Awesome! Super busy day, we forgot and it was Valentine’s day and the place was busy! Regardless we got darn good service and excellent food. This will be a ‘must stop in’ anytime I am in Salem. Highly recommend the Halibut tacos and the chimichanga. It was so good I am at a loss for words.

We went 5 deep tonight to enjoy a nice meal. The flavors were brilliant, everything cooked perfectly except the chicken was burnt for the fajitas which the cook made fresh again and were perfect the second time. The best part about this place was the service. Teresa and Maria were so patient and attentive and kind. Sometimes my kids can be alot and my family just isnt foe the weak at heart haha. These ladies were anazing and because of them we definitely return.

The food is amazing and service is great, the drinks are also really good. It may not be as aesthetic as the new places popping up but the food exceeds all the other places. The short rib enchiladas are my personal favorite.

I took a friend here for her birthday last week. We both ordered Pork Chili Verde. It was a generous portion of pork that was so incredibly tender and delicious. Even the chips, salsa & bean dip were really good. The Black Diamond mocktail was also good. When I told them it was her birthday celebration they brought us a plate of churros with whipped cream & chocolate. They were still warm and oh so yummy! I asked if they had a sombrero for her to wear while I sing to her. She didn’t think so but she looked around and found one for us! Neighboring tables joined us in singing and our waitress took pics of us. Such great service, delicious food and comfortable surroundings. Also nice they had free parking in the back as well as on street parking. I’d like to eat there again next time I’m in Salem. When we arrived at 4pm we had the place to ourselves, but by the time we left around 6 they were getting busy.

The skirt steak was cooked perfectly and one of the best I’ve ever eaten. The drinks were also delicious!

We’ve been meaning to try out La Vida Catrina, so we stopped by for margaritas and appetizers after enjoying the sunset among the cherry blossoms at the Capitol . I am SO glad we did.

This place is simply spectacular. Ridiculously authentic, unpretentious and a gracious staff, everything was among the best we’ve had — and we never moved past the appetizers. They had us right from the start, with the Ultimate Cadillac margarita — 1800 Cuervo Reposado, house made agave and a healthy Grand Marnier floater you pour at the table — just so very good.

For our appetizer sampler, we started with guacamole, a generous serving made as fresh and flavorful as any we’ve had growing up in Texas, visiting Mexico, … anywhere. Next up, bacon wrapped cream cheese and crab stuffed jalapeños. Need I say more? Finally, we shared the queso fundido, very well done with chilis, sausage and mushrooms.

This was honestly a unique and impressive experience. We can’t wait to sample the rest of the menu. As soon as possible. Maybe tomorrow

Update… We did return to further sample the menu, and really enjoyed the Chile Verde and Short Rib Enchiladas. The star of the evening was again from the Starters menu — the Shrimp Taquitos. Wow. Simple, fresh and delicious.

Our latest visit was an 8 pm HH and yes, appetizers and Ultimate Cadillacs. Of course. We did try the quite good beef nachos and a few excellent (and huge) asada street tacos.

Summer 2025… Returned on our way through Salem for a lovely late afternoon “linner”, and really enjoyed the shrimp fajitas. Very well spiced. And yes, say it with me… Ultimate Cadillac Margaritas. You must stop in!

For my first experience there was only one server and had to wait about 30 min for food. Also for the menu it didn’t have more details description of ingredients, such as if it has jalapeños or not.

We absolutely love this place. If you’re looking for a more upscale Mexican food, this the place for you. It’s all cooked to order, so you don’t get it fast like other Mexican restaurants. But it’s totally worth the wait. The food is always phenomenal. This last time we ordered the Ribeye Steak Salad, the Ribeye Fajitas, the Guacamole, and the Elote. The steak is SO GOOD! I couldn’t stop eating the salad, even after I was stuffed, because it was that good. Best salad I’ve ever had any restaurant. Hubby said the fajitas were amazing and talked about how good the steak was the whole time. Cooked perfectly! The Elote does take some time to get to you since it’s cooked to order. It usually doesn’t get served until after everything else. But it’s always worth waiting for!

(I forgot to take a picture until we ate well over half the guacamole, you get way more than what you see in the picture! And the papaya with tajin that is served with it is to die for! Also not pictured because I ate it all.)

We went here for lunch and the food was really good. I had a chicken enchilada with mole sauce, a chili relleno which had pork in it, rice and beans. It was good, the chili relleno was a little different then what I’m used to, it didn’t seem to have the egg coating and again was stuffed with pork whereas I’m used to stuffed with cheese. So it wasn’t what I had in mind but was still very good, I would not have ordered it though had I known what I was getting and it does state it has pork on the menu. There was a big party that ordered before us and I think they’re was only one chef because it took forever and our plates mostly came out all at different times. I’d definitely recommend it but if heading there for lunch while you’re working plan for a little longer to be safe

Really excellent food! Complimentary chips , salsa, and a delicious bean dip were brought to our table quickly after we sat down. The chips were fresh and not overly salty or greasy. We ordered some guacamole to start, it was freshly prepared and everyone enjoyed! Our entrees were wonderful. Fresh, perfectly seasoned, thoughtful presentations. The margaritas looked great although we didn’t order one this time, a good reason to return on our next visit to Salem. Service was very fast and friendly. Great spot for delicious Mexican food! They should really bottle their green sauce and salsa. Good stuff!
