This review is on my dinner experience on Friday 2/20/2026. Im not usually this critical but there was so much that I disliked. The restaurant did not seem to have the heat on. It was uncomfortably cold. The lighting was extremely bright. This combination just did not create the cozy atmosphere that I was hoping to find. We placed our meal order and was told that one of our entree items would be substituted because of some of the ingredients was out of stock. Our server brought us a really small basket of chips and two types of dip. Overall the chips and dip were good. Our meals came pretty quick and our server was nice and polite. The plates were full and the food temp was hot, however the food was absolutely terrible. We just could not eat it. We left one plate almost completely untouched and shared a little bit from my plate. The rice was okay and we ate most of it. The beans just were not edible. The main dish was a chicken pomblano plate. It was pretty rough. We ate the peppers and a very small amount of the chicken. We left one almost entire meal on the table practically untouched and over half of the other. Our bill came to 37 bucks and we left a 5 dollar tip. I got sick on the way home and threw up. I called my friend to ask how she was doing and she also had gotten sick. I have never had such a bad dining experience. It was absolutely awful.

It’s a very rare day indeed when I need to rate a restaurant so low.
We are on vacation and stopped to eat in the very small town of Victoria, VA.
I’m used to very authentic Mexican food, and this wasn’t even close!!!
I took 3 bites of my enchiladas and had to shove them aside….(Who puts cheese dip on top of food…..the enchiladas had a sour taste. The rice and beans didn’t taste homemade, but I felt they came out of a box and can.
The place was close to empty, the waitress was friendly, but did not come back to check on us. The place did look clean, which was a plus.

We were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was here. The carnitas are stellar. Seriously, if you like them at all, get them. Also, the refried beans had really good flavor. They clearly know how to cook here!

Their food is absolutely amazing and so is their horchata!! They actually did an accommodation for me with that drink and I will be forever grateful for how amazing and kind they are. Always great vibes with this restaurant/staff and all the times I’ve picked up or others have for me the food never disappoints!! I would 20/10 recommend this restaurant.

I will NEVER eat at La Victoria Mexican Restaurant again. I ordered a side of rice — it was overcooked and honestly barely edible. I also ordered 3 birria tacos, and when I got home and opened the bag, there was no consomé to dip my tacos in.
I called the restaurant, and the girl who answered the phone was very nonchalant and said they had “ran out” when I placed my order. When I asked why nobody told me when I picked my food up, she took a long pause and said she “didn’t know,” then told me I could just bring the tacos back. That’s not the point. They should’ve told me they were out of a main ingredient and let me decide if I still wanted the order.
Poor service and poor communication. I will never go back.

My husband and I went to grab dinner here while staying in Victoria, Virginia and we don’t retreat it. The restaurant was DELICIOUS. my husband really liked the horchata. I enjoyed my steak quesadilla, the tortilla cheese and steak were tasty. And he especially enjoyed his meal in the molcajete. It included shrimp, steak, chicken and chorizo in a cheesy sauce with jalapeños and fried cheese. Would recommend 10/10 and would visit again any day.

So I live in Victoria, grew up here. I have seen restaurants come and go over the years. I had a very poor experience tonight that seems to be the trend here lately. Whenever I call for a takeout order it is very hard to get someone on the phone. Their online webpage says they close at 9:00 on Sundays. So myself and my daughter started calling at 7:20 to place an order for pick up. After 9 calls someone finally picked up the phone at 7:45 and told me the kitchen closed at 7:30 and that they closed at 8:00. I explained that online was apparently incorrect and let her know that I had been trying to call for almost 30 minutes. She stated that everything had been turned off and already cleaned, and was fairly rude in all honesty. Not the best way to get and especially keep return customers. Just my humble opinion!

Our Server was polite and delivered our meals as ordered. This was our 2nd time visiting LaVictoria. We happened upon it last year before a holiday concert. It was great then and great today!!!!! Whenever we’re in Victoria we will stop for a wonderful meal. Last but not least the portions are enormous. Buenos Noches!
