A Hidden Gem of Italian Hospitality and Flavor

From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the kind of warmth that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into your best friend’s kitchen—if your best friend just happened to be an incredibly talented Italian chef. The food is out of this world—every dish made with love, authenticity, and bold, fresh flavors that transport you straight to Italy.

Whether it’s the hand-crafted pasta, the perfectly balanced sauces, or the heavenly desserts, every bite reminds you that real food is made from the heart. And speaking of heart, the owner is just as much a reason to visit as the food itself. She’s a beautiful soul—genuine, kind, and passionate about making sure every guest feels like family.

This isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an experience. And once you go, you’ll be counting the days ‘til you can come back again.

The flavors were really good. The roasted half chicken was very small. The tiramisu was a little bit of a lazy version but flavorful. The prices were OK. I give this place an A.

I want to start off by saying the food and beverages were too notch. Absolutely no complaints. I had a Bella Viola gin cocktail, an Italian 75, and a Swanky’s Espresso Martini. Don’t worry, I was there for FOUR HOURS so I was not over served. The Bella Viola is refreshing and light. It entertains the palate without overwhelming the flavors of your dish. The Italian 75 is similar to a French 75, the sprig of rosemary was a nice touch and again, a refreshing cocktail that won’t overpower your meal. I enjoyed the Espresso martini which is made with whisky rather than vodka. It was so smooth and not over sweet like many espresso martinis can be. It was A great accompaniment to the Tiramisu I had for dessert.
Antipasti I had the Bruschetta Veronese. A generous portion of 4 perfectly grilled slices of bread topped with caramelized onions, goat cheese, figs, and balsamic. It was such a lovely flavor profile with the sweetness of the balsamic glaze with the tartness of the goat cheese. I enjoyed the Cacio e Pepe on the bucatini. It was SO well done. The mellow comfort of Parmesan is capped off with a hit of black pepper. It’s like a warm hug. The bucatini was cooked perfectly al dente and supported the sauce without dulling its shine. For dessert, as mentioned above, I had the tiramisu. What I really loved was the fresh crisp of the lady fingers. It felt More like a Charlotte meets tiramisu and I found it delightful. Our dishes came out promptly once our orders were entered.
The bummer was the service support. I was there with a group of about 20 adults and 3 children that had been reserved and confirmed for over a month. It was Also Prom night. It is my understanding the reservation was lost. The staff quickly made room for us in adjoining dining space. One server took care of our entire party. It took An hour for our first round of drinks. We ordered apps and entrees as soon as drinks were out. Which came out in a proper amount of time would say. It was A trickle, but all of our dishes were delicious and eventually correct. Same with dessert. And same with our tickets. Our tickets were brought out in one by one after they were requested, leaving items left off or added incorrectly. I am not sure any of us had a correct check at first. Unable to wait out further delay, some in our party just paid and left even with an incorrect ticket.
This was not the server’s fault entirely. Not once did any of her team come to check on her, help deliver drinks, dishes, or anything. We were there from 6pm-10pm and our waters were filled twice. I felt really bad for her. I know the small local business was overwhelmed, but you would hope to see more stellar service since the food they showcase is extraordinary. The chef and her work deserve better.
The dining room was also very cold. I am sure the kitchen and dining room are on one thermostat, which makes this tricky and it is also a historic space which can be drafty, but goodness it was chilly even with a jacket.

Atmosphere:
When walking up at night, the place was very bright. After walking inside, the atmosphere looked more like a breakfast cafe than an Italian dinner restaurant. The decor looked like it was thrown together last minute. 3 stars.

Tomato Bruschetta:
The taste was good, however there were only 3 pieces. My wife and I usually split this appetizer when eating Italian but 3 pieces is hard to split. On top of that, the price was $13. This seemed rather expensive for only 3 small slices of bruschetta.

Fettuccini Cacio e pepe:
The pasta was good, nothing spectacular. Basic dish. I wish they offered protein to add to the pasta such as chicken.

Fettuccini rapini pesto:
My wife said it tasted bitter and something was wrong. I tried the dish and had to spit it out. It tasted bitter and had a plastic aftertaste. It tasted like the spinach had gone bad. The server came by and explained the rapini is what we were tasting. We love all vegetables and never return our dish but to on this one.

Fettuccini Pomodoro:
Our server gladly exchanged the Fettuccini rapini pesto for this dish. This dish tasted good. Tastes fresh and light. Very authentic tasting. 5 stars.

Service:
Our waiter was 5 stars! Excellent customer service, very polite, very understanding and accommodating.

This is a hidden gem! From when I first saw the window display, until I walked out the door. This place is special! Autumn was a fantastic server. New and still learning, but an absolute sweetheart! I went there for brunch on Sunday. It was the best Steak and Eggs I have ever had! The potatoes it came with was a nice bonus and the onions on top of the potatoes made the dish! Bravo, well done! I will have to go back and try something different! How this place wasn’t busy is beyond my comprehension. In case you’re having trouble finding it, it’s where Philly’s used to be.

FINALLY!!! Just what Gallatin has been needing. Authentic Italian food. As someone who has been to Italy before and eats Italian food on the regular, this is the real deal. The owner is the sweetest person and she really wants to make your experience special and amazing. She really puts all her heart into her food. The presentation is on point and the taste is spectacular. I’ve never ate in the home of an actual Italian, but I felt like I was eating home cooking when eating her food. It was simple yet tasty, which is just what authentic Italian is all about. It was just comforting and hearty. The prices were perfect, also. In regards to service, you can tell she really tried to pick the best people. Our waiter was so nice and pleasant as well as the other workers. We never needed anything and our waters were always filled. I throughly look forward to going back many times in the future and watching as this business grows. Support this business, yall! And just on a personal suggestion, I know the inside is still coming together, but it would be cool to see more Italian decor along the walls or just around in general so customers feel more transported. That’s my only suggestion. Otherwise, 10/10!

We went to the coffee shop next door and then discovered this place. I am glad we did. I believe they opened Saturday for lunch because of fall festival. I am glad they did. Our server was Solomon and he was amazing. We got the arancini for an appetizer. It was delicious! My husband got the risotto. It was very good. I got the chicken cacciatore. It was great. My only wish was more carrots. We will definitely be back.

We have been waiting for an authentic Italian restaurant from an Italian chef since we moved to Tennessee and have found it! I am Italian and make my own pasta, so am extremely picky. From the burrata with fresh bread and beautifully dressed arugula and tomatoes to the beautiful Arancini to the pork chop to the Rapini pesto gnocchi to the Crème Brûlée ~ perfection! Portion size was extremely generous and well-plated.

We live in Franklin and even took food to go! It was worth the drive and can’t wait to go back. Our server, Jasmine, was awesome and the chef and owner was fabulous!

My husband and I ate here a little over a week ago. We were sat a minute or two after we walked in. We were sat on the side with the coffee bar. It took a little while for our server to get to us but we just figured that they could be short staffed. We weren’t in a hurry so it wasn’t a problem. I ordered the fettuccine and added the chicken for an extra charge of $14. I had the burrata appetizer so by the time my entree came, I wasn’t as hungry so I decided to package the rest up and take it home. Today I brought it to work for my lunch. Half way through eating my grilled chicken breast, I bite into it and it is spongy. I take a closer look and it’s raw in the middle. So now I’m immediately scared I’m going to get sick. I’ve taken a bite of chicken that this restaurant did not fully cook and has also been in my refrigerator for a couple days. I am so upset that I didn’t catch this health hazard at the restaurant. I would have asked for my money back. I do intend to alert the health department. A mistake like this puts people’s lives at risk. If you are going to undercook anything, don’t let it be the chicken!!! See attached photos and video. If you eat there be sure to thoroughly inspect your food. I will not be dining there again. Best of luck to those of you who want to take your chances here.

La Veneta Italian Restaurant in Gallatin, TN and its cozy coffee shop, The Guilty Grind, offer a truly exceptional dining experience, lovingly crafted by owner Laura Braga. Her homemade chocolate cake is a slice of heaven—rich, decadent, and perfectly complemented by a freshly brewed cappuccino. The service is impeccable, and the warmth of the staff makes you feel instantly at home, embodying the essence of Italian hospitality. Laura’s commitment to authentic flavors shines through in every dish and dessert, leaving a lasting impression.
The experience wouldn’t be complete without sampling Laura’s homemade croissants, which come in a delightful variety of flavors. We tried the chocolate croissant, and it was an absolute standout—light, flaky, and generously filled with rich chocolate inside and out. Barista Wanda adds to the charm with her welcoming demeanor and exceptional cappuccino artistry, presenting each cup with elegance and care. Together, Laura and Wanda create a wholesome, family-oriented atmosphere where every visit feels special and memorable.

It is well-worth the trip to Gallatin if you’re not local to there. We have traveled from AZ to TN and so glad we came across Laura’s fine establishments….You will not be disappointed!! Both places are truly magical and will surely satisfy your heart’s desires and please all palates.
