If you read my reviews I almost NEVER give a perfect review! However this is one that deserves it. Food is excellent and authentic, atmosphere was updated a few years ago and looks great and service is friendly and fast! I’ve been coming here since 2005 when it was a small taco stand where everyone “tail gated” to eat this great food. They have come a long way but food has always been just as day one! Many local restaurant critic reviews as one of the best in the Lou!

Food and service are amazing! We come to STL a few times a year for soccer and I always have a taste for Mexican food. My husband found this restaurant online and we decided to give it a try. The food and service are incredible. It’s no thrills with the decor, etc, but the FOOD is outstanding! The only place I want to eat in town!

Delicious food at a great price. The atmosphere was amazing with the live music going on next door. There was plenty of outdoor seating when we arrived. We came here for a quick lunch snack and weren’t disappointed. Great little area to walk around as well and checkout the nearby shops and bakeries. Before you leave, get a paleta!

My partner and I wanted to celebrate our short trip to St. Louis with a night out and we stumbled upon this restaurant unexpectedly. It was a welcome surprise! The customer service was so friendly and I felt like they really cared about the quality of the food they were putting out. Waiting in line took a bit longer than some may expect, but that was mostly due to people coming in not wearing masks then having to be asked to put on a mask before they continued their order. We appreciated the employees’ efficiency getting our order put in and read back to us to make sure they heard us correctly. Super awesome people across the board. A great selection of proteins for your tacos and their rice is awesome. The flavor was outstanding on everything we got and the portions were huge. We both also got the jumbo size house margarita and they were SO good. We ate the orange slice that came with it and stole a sip before we snapped a pic, sorry!!! Overall the pricing was fantastic for the flavor, quantity, and quality of what you’re getting. The employees even had some disrespectful customers in the time we were there and they handled it smoothly and with so much grace. This will be a spot we are bound to return to when we get a chance to come back to STL in the near future. Thanks for treating us so well!

Consistent, good, authentic Mexican food. This is not Tex-Mex ground beef and cheddar in a crunchy taco shell. It’s the real Mexican food. It’s the good stuff. Don’t skip the popsicles and ice cream!

Okay so you Do Not go to Cherokee Street just to eat. There is an excitement in the air and the street itself is Alive and La Vallesana is truly at the heart of it. With its courtyard and covered patio you can enjoy the sites and scenes of a hustle and bustle busy street with people coming and going and cars cruising up and down the street freshly waxed. If you want to relax a little you can sit inside and you are right next to the bar. Pretty standard set up but lots of what you would expect them to have. IE lots of beers and flavors of Margaritas. However if you want a soda such as a real sugar Coke they have that too. They have also been making ice cream there for as long as I can remember. It’s very good and I recommend saving room for a try. The food is the best and it really is delicious. This restaurant has been renovated and added on to over the last 20 years. What used to be an ice cream and taco shack is now super nice and big! They have taken that time to craft a tremendous menu. Also sauces are homemade including the red and green sauce they have had on there tables since I can remember. They are both different the red is spicy the green is amazing. The street tacos are the best I’ve had outside of Mexico and the tongue, the cheek, or the headcheese tacos are my go to’s everytime. Trust me try it! Cilantro and lime mmmm so good! Also their Torta’s are very good. I recommend trying a torta it’s basically a piece of French bread cut in half then refried beans, lettuce and tomatoes, some kind of spiced fried or stewed protein, and sour cream. Messy but tasty. We sat outside and our food was brought to us. After that we were on our own as far as if we needed another drink or anything. But that’s okay. It was worth not having a hovering waiter for this great restaurant and it’s amazing food and atmosphere. Highly recommend

Food first of all is great! I come from a heritage of real Mexican food and this gets close, even though it’s the Midwest. Service was great, facility was clean. Only downfall is the surrounding area is a mix of races who I’m assuming all live in this area, whom don’t seem to get along. Just and observation from an outsider. Rid the place of crime and or relocate. Either way I still rated it high cause we’re used to these situations.

Wow!! I have found my people! Best authentic Mexican food I’ve found to date. Great place off of Cherokee street. We ordered the fish tacos, a chicken (pollo)burrito, and some street beef tacos, and even some chicken tenders with fries for the children. Everyone was happy with their bellies full. Seriously, can’t wait to try more other items. Their guacamole was good too. Very happy with this place. Also, I would like to proudly State their containers are 100% biodegradable. That is fantastic!!

GREAT FOOD, DRUNK CUSTOMERS! This is not the restaurant’s fault of course! We walked in behind some people stumbling in, and they were extremely loud and obnoxious the entire time. The food was delicious and affordable. We ordered at the counter, and our food was brought to us within five minutes. I hate that the other customers leveled our experience, otherwise I would have happily given La Vallesana 5 stars!

Excellent Birria and Tortas. Horchata was a bit thick for my taste but nonetheless delicious. Plan to spend a bit more per person, $12-$18 depending on the entree.
