Delicious Italian meal. The Snapper was full of flavor and accompanied by an almost sinful sauce. The tomatoes stood out with a pop of flavorful acidity that elevated the snapper fillet from good to great. This is easily one of my favorite items to order at La Trattoria!

La Trattoria on Duval Street in Key West made my mom’s birthday truly memorable. The inviting atmosphere and excellent Italian food created the perfect setting for our celebration. Our waiter, Josh, provided outstanding service… friendly, attentively checking in, and always anticipating what we needed, which added to the joy of the evening. He timed the courses with class.
The best moment came towards the end of the meal, when Josh surprised my mom with a special birthday treat featuring a sparkling candle and a cheerful “Happy Birthday” message, making her feel genuinely celebrated. The best chicken parmesan I’ve ever had. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked. With excellent al dente pasta. And Jesus Christ that carbonara was amazing. Such a rich and layered sauce, it was fantastic. Best food we ate while in Key West.

We got to-go, and that is always a slippery slope. Even in the short trip back to the hotel, the food can get soggy, cold, etc, but none of that happened. We got the hogfish and snapper fish dishes, and the tastes are so distinctly different, it’s hard to believe they come out of the same kitchen. I started with the escargot, and add a third and equally delicious and different sauce was all over them. Use their incredible bread to sop up every bit, and whatever is left over can be used on top of your eggs the next morning! The atmosphere is really cool, as this gem sits right on Duval St. and the people watching is superb from the bar. Exceptional drinks made to order, and there are plenty of martini recipes you have not tried…or even thought of! Happy exploring!! This is a checkbox every time we visit the Isle of Bones. Reservations encouraged, but you can most definitely walk in and find room or place an order.

Food was great! Atmosphere was also fantastic but the service by Walter was terrible. Had to wait for ever for everything. We had to ask for bread. After a big while we called the manager to get dessert and the check. Mr Walter spent all night talking to other guests and we were left alone. He finally brought the dessert but with an attitude.

Thought we were going to Virgilio’s and ended up in the Trattoria, which was fantastic! Tablecloths and a nice dining set up made it feel very Italian. And the food was amazing. We had the osso bucco. It’s the first time we were ever given a small fork to dig out the bone marrow! Absolutely delicious. And since I could not decide between the Nonna pasta or Alfredo, the waiter suggested a half plate of both. I was soooo happy.
My husband ordered a specific Martini and they made it to perfection.
It was so delicious that we never took a photo. Highly recommend, especially if you are hungry.
