Shockingly bad and rude customer service. I have ordered here before and the young man at the counter was never very inviting, but always was OK. I tried to take it in stride when he hoarded 1 oz containers of salsa like I was asking for gold, or waiting 10minutes for him to finish a call but Today was over the top. In the past the food was good, I did not think it was necessarily worth the price but as the options on the South Side are limited it was worth it. I called in an order today, and the phone was answered Hello with an angry tone. I asked if this was La Toxica as I just got a snarled Hello and was asked what I want. The phone connection was bad, it sounded like vacuuming was going on in the background on there side or something was wrong with the connection. I said I would call back to see if we get a better connection, and the call back was more of the same. I said that I would like to place an order for pickup and he barked, ” I don’t have your name”, I answered but I guess he could not hear me because he hung up on me. I tried to call back twice and each time they picked up and immediately hung up on me. Pretty wild, I am glad you have enough business to not need orders from a regular local. Never again, pretty strange stuff. Take out your bad day on someone else.

Delicious food. I had shredded beef taco plate and my Dad had a chicken taco salad. The red salsa is the bomb! It’s very small inside so no atmosphere and only bar height tables. It’s definitely on the pricey side for very casual dining.

I expected more for the price. Birria tacos were soggy and falling apart. Asked for no cheese and they had cheese all over them. They were sitting in a puddle of grease. Bowls weren’t impressive either. When I hear chicken bowl I think meat, beans, rice, maybe onions cilantro… but we got salads instead. They looked ok and the meat was flavorful but I would rethink the word “bowl”. Very disappointing.

Food was pretty tasty, and the hot salsa was delicious and well made. I had the carne asada burrito. Cooked well and tasted good but could use more seasoning in my opinion. Staff is very friendly and the restaurant is nice inside. Clean bathrooms, clean kitchen, and clean seating.

Was excited to try this new taco shop in our area, but was terribly disappointed by the service and ultimately cancelled my whole order and left. The young man at the register was not very helpful and is the reason this place has lost our business for good. After placing a large takeout order, I asked if I could add rice and beans to one of our burritos and the young man refused. Even though you can buy a side of rice and beans directly from the menu, he refused to add it to the burrito. I was told that burritos only come with meat, pico, and guac (which is tough when ordering for kids). When I asked him why he couldn’t add it to my burrito, he replied “because it’s more labor”. What a joke. I will never go back to this place and will be sure to tell people about my experience.

I’m not sure why this place has such low reviews. I order from here weekly and the food is always super fresh and tasty.
I usually order the chicken street tacos, always loaded with meat and toppings. $10 for 5 tacos is very affordable. I also love their bean and cheese burrito (probably the best beans in town!) and chicken salad bowl. The avocado dressing is really good! I also like their green salsa, the red is a little too hot for me but it has good flavor so I use it sparingly.
I’ve only ever ordered off Door Dash but have never had an issue. I live central and the food is always piping hot when it arrives.
They also communicate well on the Door Dash app. If you haven’t yet, don’t let these other reviews stop you from trying them. And no, nobody asked me to make this review – I’m a local small business owner and wanted to take the time to leave a positive review for a place I frequent and enjoy!

I stopped by La Toxica Taco Shop today, for the first time, and I was blown away. The birria tacos are incredible. Perfectly seasoned, super flavorful, and packed full of meat. They are huge too! They were filling. The carnitas burrito was just as great. It was so delicious and loaded with filling. It was satisfying and not to mention the price was very reasonable. A great value for the portion size and quality. The young man that was helping me was very attentive, and polite. I will definitely be back, and I highly recommend La Toxica to anyone craving authentic, great tasting Mexican food.
