La Tolteca in Churchville continues to be one of the most consistently excellent spots in the area, and this visit reminded me why it’s such a local favorite. From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel genuinely welcomed, and the service stays attentive without ever feeling rushed.

The food is the real standout. Every dish comes out hot, fresh, and full of flavor—the kind of bold, satisfying Mexican cuisine that keeps you coming back. Portions are generous, the ingredients taste high‑quality, and everything from the salsa to the entrées has that perfect balance of seasoning and freshness. It’s the type of place where you can order your usual or try something new and know it’s going to hit the mark.

The restaurant is clean, comfortable, and well‑run, and the team keeps things moving smoothly even during busy times. You can tell they take pride in both the food and the experience.

If you’re in or around Churchville and craving great Mexican food with friendly service, La Tolteca is absolutely worth the stop. A true five‑star experience every time.

One of the better mexican restaurants in the area. Not super special but is a great option for our dining out rotation. Service and food as expected for your average mexican restaurant. Food will come out quick. I have gluten allergies and was able to eat the chips and fajitas with no problems.

Started with the Fried Stuffed Jalapeños and loved them. I recommend the Fried Taquitos and Yolanda’s.
I felt too rushed to eat. We was just starting with the appetizers when the food arrived. We had the fresh Guacamole, made at the table, but the Avocado was not mature enough to be used. It left a bad taste in the mouth.
Other than that we had a good time.

Update: 12/30/25 the manager Anna called me first thing in the morning to discuss the situation. She was very kind, recognized the issues, and because we are regular customers, she ended up refunding the entire bill. Very grateful that she did that, we will continue going almost weekly, as we have for years now.
Had a heck of a night trying to order, pick up, and eat dinner due to a very busy night at the restaurant and an underwhelming experience – all while my cat who was just picked up from surgery waited in the car.

Extremely disappointed with my recent visit. It started with the waitress taking between 10-15 minutes to approach our table initially. Made a very simple request to do the street tacos with vegetables rather than meat. The waitress wasn’t sure whether this could be done, and instead of advising that it couldn’t, decided to bring out a plate of vegetables with other items as though we ordered fajitas (which are more expensive than the street tacos we wanted). Sure enough, we were charged for fajitas. Waitress continued by not giving a bag when it was obvious one was needed for to-go containers. The food was so-so. I imagine a better Mexican food experience could be found with quick searching.

Decent but not the best. Great service but average food. Good atmosphere but mid to low end teamed style. Good value.

Food is always done well and tasty. Service is friendly and efficient. Guac is made to order table side. Complimentary warm corn tortilla chips and dips (tomato salsa and a cream-based salsa) brought as soon as you’re seated. Plenty of options and reasonable prices. Wish they serve cilantro with the dishes.

During our visit, we had several concerns. The drinks were overly sweet and cost $12 each. My husband ordered a Jim and Coke but was mistakenly served a Gin and Coke. The food was acceptable, though the fajitas were served with all components (cheese, beans, lettuce, and rice) mixed together. There were no serving utensils provided, so we had to use our personal utensils.

Additionally, our server mentioned she was going on break and directed us to ask another staff member if we needed anything. She did not return to check on us or offer drink refills. Finally, there was a dead bird in the grass near the entrance. We informed staff, but no action was taken, which made the dining experience uncomfortable.

Today was my first visit to this La Tolteca, and I was not impressed. My server barely came around, and my food was just ok. I got #111 “deep fried” chicken chimichangas. First of all, it was definitely NOT deep fried. And, it was mostly smothered in lettuce with a dollop of sour cream. At first I thought it was missing the queso, but I found maybe a spoonful underneath one of the chimichangas, that’s it. They need to revise the description for #111.

Always a great time. Service is always exceptional and the food is out of this world good. Wash it all down with a corona! Make sure to get the fresh guacamole made and served tableside.
