First time going here. It looks like a hole in the wall from the outside but it is really nice on the inside. It is very very big inside, They have it cut off in two sections. The restaurant side that is very nice and then and open area side that can be used for dancing, parties, or whatever. Our Server was a very nice lady call Leonela that helped us so much and was very nice at making use we had everything we wanted. Keep up the good work everyone that works there. And Thanks again Leonela for the best service I have had in a long time at a nice restaurants.

Sorry, I was hoping for authentic Mexican food, but found the carnitas which you cannot go wrong with was deep fried using used chicken frying oil. Did not taste good at all. Carnitas is cooked with lard, oranges, Mexican coca cola and doesn’t need to be fried. My friend got Molajete, tasted sweet but the veggies were fresh. Corn tortillas were not good either.

My husband and I have been here two or three times now. The food is very good. I love getting their shredded beef tacos. The meat is nice and tender, and they remind me of the tacos in CA. It’s nice that they provide white sauce with their chips, as some places charge extra for that. Our server was nice and made sure we were well taken care of. Service was a bit slow, but we were warned that it might be because of a party being there at the same time.

This is by far the best Mexican restaurant in this area and surrounding area! If you want authentic, this is it. We will only eat at LA Tiendita for Mexican from now on. Amazing job to all the cooks and servers!

We go here on a regular Basis and always had a good experience, even during covid protocols. Now their efforts have increased, food waist has gone down so not to increase prices. They have the most fluid working staff I have scene outside of proper corporate restaurants. Out serverbwas over the top amazing as well. Large portions, great food, great atmosphere in the dining area…. only down side is they need to recuit real bartenders and not just drink pourer’s… I had an amazing 14″ breakfast burrito that became a 3 day mean. My spouse had the pork meal and a chili side. We also have an amazing strawberry Margherita. Total bill less than $30

Great food always. Meals can be make it your own and I love that. Staff are always so friendly and service is not bad. Food is delicious and is superior to others in the area. I refuse 3 amigos with such a great restaurant here. Update: I frequently visit this location, really on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Why go to the rest when you can constantly have the best.

Update – 4/25/2022. Still the absolute best in Elizabeth City. I refuse to eat at any other location locally.

Hubby was famished and jonesing for some Mexican. Did my Google search for Mex and this location had the highest rating. Sadly, that wasn’t going to reflect on our visit.

Starting with the hostess who ignored me as we walked through the restaurant to the warm as outside temperature inside the restaurant (my sour cream was melting before my plate made it to our table) to the server who couldn’t be bothered to give us her sole attention to the fact that she forgot both of our requests for to go cups but managed to bring me back my $20 change in a $10, $5 and $5 ones (I guess to be sure she got a tip).

To be honest, she’s lucky she got $6 bucks on our $29 tab. I took $2 bucks off her tip for her lack of concentration (the phone rang and literally in the middle of me ordering she said excuse me and went to answer the phone-when she managed to make it back she was then distracted by the tip of her pen) and forgetting our to go cups.

My husband yelled after her twice “excuse me” and despite being less than 10 ft from our table she appeared not to hear us.

This is a one and done for us. Too many let downs for 1 lunch experience.

The staff is so warm kind & friendly, building is very clean & the plates have a generous enough amount to leave you satisfied. This restaurant has amazing food! I love the Mar y Tiera, the Molcajete, the Camarones al Ajillo is the Bomb but the Spice of the Pollo San Pedro was my fav of the day. Mexican dishes… Man I ❤️ it
