We recently ordered takeout from La Tela Pizzeria. The pizza itself was decent and had good flavor overall. That said, the crust was a bit tough and did not chew easily, even while it was still warm, which took away from the experience.
We also ordered the pear salad and were a little disappointed to find only two small slivers of pear on it. For a salad centered around that ingredient, we expected a bit more balance.
I would be open to trying La Tela again, but next time I would probably dine in rather than order takeout. It seems like the food might be better experienced fresh out of the oven in the restaurant.

We had an outstanding experience at La Tela Pizzeria! We happened upon this restaurant and it was super busy, but we were able to take a seat at the counter. We had great service and we enjoyed watching the kitchen in action. The star of our dinner was homemade lasagne …from scratch mozzarella, noodles, sauce and etc! Such a delicious dish! Our pizza was amazing as well! I can highly recommend this place!

One of my all time favorite spots. Great atmosphere and service. For an Italian restaurant in a vacation spot in South Carolina, La Tela can hold its own with many excellent pizzerias in most places! Wonderful food and memories.

This was a great experience. This is not your average pizza stop. Everything was made from scratch. The noodles were amazing. We ordered a pizza and chicken parmesan was amazing. The sauce with sausage ground up was awesome! We would defined go back.

I had the cavetilli and it was good. husband had the chicken parm both with the sausage sauce. Very good and enough for me to have left overs for lunch the next day. ingredients were fresh and homemade.
Also had the tiramisu which we shared and was delicious. It was very light and was not over powering.
We would go back. our server Kristy was very nice and good recommendations. Oh the Lavender Martini was good too.

The pizza was okay, unfortunately the tirmasu really brought everything way down. Presentation was amazing even to go, but the cake layers were not soaked in espresso/coffee that’s like tirmasu 101. On top of that the thing tasted like straight up fridge, just eating cream with fridge tasting cake layers and coco powder. Skip dessert next time

I’ve enjoyed every restaurant I have tried in Kiawah until this one. We saw the mixed reviews of this place and didn’t know what to think. But on our last night (Friday) we were willing to give it a shot. No online ordering offered (welcome to the 21st century!). Ok fine, only option was to place a to go order at 540pm by telephone for a 20 inch cheese pizza. Lady on the phone repeated back, “20 inch cheese pizza.” No way to mess this up right? Wrong! An hour and a half hour later, everyone starving for “real Italian pizza.” What I got instead was a 14 inch pizza (that only measures 12 inches across) that was paper thin and had almost no identifiable cheese. Eight tiny slices that only fed one adult and two children for 20 bucks. At 715pm the lady answering the phones was still telling callers an hour and a half wait for pizza. In the age of AI this sounds like a very unscientific prediction of a business that is lost in their own spaghetti sauce.

Gluten-free options were super limited. They did have GF pasta but my only options were eggplant Parmesan for $26 (which I didn’t order) or a very small salad for the entree and ice cream for dessert. The butternut squash salad was really good, just very small – very pretty center of the plate, not filling. The food was really good but I left hungry due to few options. I thought the prices were very high too. Restaurant was very crowded and noisy on a weeknight. Service was great. In their defense, the menu doesn’t mention gluten-free at all – I was going by the previous reviews and others had said they had options.

La Tel proved itself to be a wonderful place for food, drink and atmosphere. We came here after listening to music at the amphitheater…great choice!

Really great food and service. It was a little loud and there was some trouble accommodating our larger group but they did a good job managing that. Not giving 5 stars because there was no place to change our infants diaper. I tried both bathrooms and ended up moving some decorations to change my son’s diaper on the decorative furniture. Pictures are from both of their bathrooms and the diaper changing options.
