We had a wonderful lunch on the patio at La Taverne at The Broadmoor. The setting was beautiful and relaxing, the perfect spot to enjoy a sunny afternoon.

I ordered the French onion soup, which was rich, flavorful, and topped with a perfectly golden, cheesy crust—it was one of the best I’ve ever had. The peppered turkey sandwich was fresh and delicious, stacked with great flavor and just the right amount of kick. Together, it made for an outstanding meal.

The service was friendly and attentive, and the entire experience felt like classic Broadmoor hospitality. Highly recommend for anyone visiting—especially if you can sit out on the patio!

I have been coming here every year and the quality of food and selection is always above par. Their signature item is the French Onion Soup! Must try.

This beautiful restaurant, nested inside the Broadmoor is absolutely beautiful with amazing food and ambiance. Every year they have something different so it never gets old. Perfect for dates and meetings – although it does get very loud. Maybe they should think about some acoustic paneling.

My favorite here is their French onion soup (no one can beat it) and I absolutely love their fresh bread the butter. Portions are decent and their service is great. If you are alone they do have 5 bar seats which don’t require reservations.

Recommend: pastas, salad and soups, seafood. Very fresh. Seasoned French fries
Do not recommend: burger or steak – last time it was hard and undercooked.

Strong seafood flavors, but mixed experience overall.
The seafood and anchovy flavors were quite strong—maybe too much for some. The bread was just okay, but the butter stood out and was really tasty. The sea bass was mediocre, nothing special. The steak was definitely the best dish we had. Wine was good and paired nicely with the meal.

Had a Wagyu strip steak, which was correctly cooked over a gas flame (not by infrared, which doesn’t produce any char flavor. It was good quality meat, juicy, had been allowed to rest in the kitchen before serving.

The duck-fat fries were ordinary, in fact starchy, not even as good as McDonald’s.

The restaurant consists of many sections which kind of flow into each other, which I would describe as pub-like, cellar-like, and garden with glass roof. I was placed in the cellar-like section, which was very dark. There were mini-lamp fixtures on the tables but the staff said there weren’t enough of the actual light-emitting inserts, so my table got a very faint bulb that cast no light on the table at all.

You probably shouldn’t agree to be seated in that section, but the steak itself was good. Tell them not to put their butter topping on the steak, because it’s flavored with something and detracts from the steak.

We had dinner at La Taverne, and considering the sky-high pricing, I was expecting attentive service and great food. Unfortunately I was disappointed on both. First the good news. I had the lamb chops ($78), which were tasty, albeit not a full rack.
The onion soup however, supposedly a signature dish, came out charred on one side (see pic). Note: the server was gracious enough to replace it. I also liked the sharp scissors they give you to cut the cheese cleanly for each bite.
The service was also slow. It literally took 15 minutes to serve our bread and butter, and the same for our drinks. Maybe it was an off night. It was Friday, so I would have expected them to be on their game. Bottom line- nothing was “horrible,” but certainly not worth the price tag, IMHO. The hotel itself is beautiful, however, and worth a walk around the grounds.

The French Dip was amazing. The chicken salad plate wasn’t so good. Thanks Chloe for your great service!

This is a lovely place to eat and enjoy visiting the Broadmoor.

My recommendation would be to get regular fries instead of the shoestring. They aren’t hot when they arrive and cool more quickly. Somehow I had a couple of regular fries mixed in and they were so much better.

I had the absolute pleasure of celebrating my college graduation dinner at La Taverne and I couldn’t have asked for a more memorable evening. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was truly outstanding. The staff treated my family and friends with such warmth and care, making us all feel incredibly welcome.

A special thank you to the wine expert, who went above and beyond to guide me through the perfect selections. His attention to detail and genuine kindness really stood out. And our waiter, Rakesh, was divine. His service was exceptional, attentive, and full of grace. He made the entire experience feel so special.

The highlight of the night was being surprised with a beautifully presented congratulations cake to honor my graduation it was such a thoughtful and touching gesture that meant the world to me.

My fiancé and I already know we’ll be back for future special occasions, and my family, who flew in from New York City, has already said they’ll be returning here on their next visit. La Taverne made our evening unforgettable, and I couldn’t recommend it more for a truly elegant and heartfelt dining experience.

Superb service and care both here. First time dining at La Taverne with our server Mr Fitzroy – he did a great job taking care of all 7 of us on Christmas eve! We love the Broadmoor at Christmastime and enjoyed being together at such a wonderful restaurant & resort. Try the french onion soup and do not miss the prime rib when dining here. Thank you Fitzroy and staff for an incredible Christmas Eve 2025!

Service was exemplary. They helped to make my proposal memorable. They even brought out complimentary eclair dessert. Atmosphere was charming. I ordered the shrimp salad entree because i wanted lighter dish. The amount of food in that dish was equivalent to a side salad; so I was still hungry after eating it.
