It is low-key as they come. No frills and interesting decor inside. They have a nice outdoor area. As far as the menu, they have a standard Americanized Mexican menu, nothing really unique from what I could tell and no drink/cocktail menu. Everything was made fresh. We had a large group and they accommodated us well. The prices were slightly high for example paying 3.25 for a soda seems a bit much. It’s in a nice location, easy access and friendly service. Good Mexican food is hard to come by around here, so I’d try them again for takeout.

Brand new Mexican restaurant in Spring Lake right across Noble’s Meat. Jaime was very welcoming, and our server was exceptional, on top of our order and removing the dinnerware once we were done eating. The food was great! Salsa was tasty, and so were my tacos de carne asada and my Honey’s steak fajitas. The only reason I didn’t give the food a 5 star was because it could have been a little overcooked. There were a few other patrons dining with us. It was a pleasant experience.

This is only my second time trying this place and easily my new favorite Mexican food joint. The first time I ordered the chimichanga plate with chicken and it was perfection! The chicken was very tender, not dry, and the chimichanga was covered with a cheese Queso sauce. It came with beans but I also ordered a side of rice which was by far some of the best, flavorful Mexican rice I’ve ever had. (Forgot to take a pic because I was wayy too excited and ate it before I thought about a pic).
The second time I ordered the enchiladas with poblano. It came with rice, no beans, but I ordered a side of beans anyways because they’re so good. The sauce is a little spicy but also sweet.
Their guacamole and chips are amazing, super fresh! And the salsa is delicious too (unlike some places I’ve been to that taste like straight up pizza sauce).
If you like authentic Mexican cuisine then you have got to give La Taberna in Spring Lake a try.

My husband picked this up on the way home. I ordered the beef fajita taco salad and they forgot to add half of the ingredients…. There was no lettuce, tomatoes, cheese or sour cream in my $15 salad…

This place needs to stay here. Off the beaten path and good local Mexican cuisine. Lengua tacos are not on the menu, but they have them. Definitely delicious. Simple flavor and presentation.

I was so excited to get a Mexican restaurant so close to our house. The first time we ordered they forgot our guacamole. No big deal. Since we were a pick up order we didn’t realize until we were the whole way home- we called, and they offered us free guac the next time we came. We declined and asked for our money back. They were hesitant but ultimately said that the money would be returned to our card. It never was.
We ordered again tonight. The food was mediocre, and this is the $6 guacamole. It is half gray and as big as a clementine. I understand times are tough, but come on. What an absolute rip off. The food definitely is not justified by the prices, and we will not be ordering again.
