We made a reservation and went into the restaurant with very high expectations.
We were seated quickly, outside, at a very nice table. The restaurant was quiet, 4-5 other tables were seated. I think they forgot about us because after receiving the menus and waiting 25 minutes, I had to go inside to ask them if we could order. We didn’t receive an apology or explanation though, and we could see that all the other tables were getting excellent service. We then had a different waiter, who was very nice and attentive after that.
We had the oysters which were very nice and as expected. After that, we had the côte de boeuf, the butcher selection to share. The portion was generous, but very unevenly cooked. I understand given the large size thag the cook will not be even across the piece but the majority of it was medium well to well done, while we asked for medium rare. We had the smoked version which tasted nice but only stuck to a small part of the meat, leaving the rest bland.
The setting was lovely, the view was very nice.

I used to love La Stoa—our visit last year (2024) was truly memorable. Unfortunately, this year’s experience was very different.
The service was acceptable… but only just. For the price we paid, the food was surprisingly mediocre. The vegetables were bland, and the main dish was underwhelming. Overall, it felt like poor value, and I won’t be coming back.

We’re shocked we were able to get a reservation here on the same day, and we were extremely lucky we did. The sea bass for 2 was incredible, the sides were amazing (and perfectly cooked which is tricky with green beans, broccoli, and carrots) and the service and atmosphere were top notch. This is my first review on Google, but La Stoa is a place that deserves it. Highly recommend and so happy we were able to get a reservation tonight!

Literally stumbled across this restaurant with no expectations and it was one of our best experiences of our trip. Very personal, lovely terrace and food was exceptional! Every dish on every table looked great and we enjoyed the shared ribeye.

We have stayed at Hotel De La Darse lots of times. We love the hotel but we equally love the restaurant. Unbelievable food, fabulous quality, beautifully curated dishes. Really good prices. It is a short walk into the port from the old town of villefranche but really worth it!

We were driving back from Eze to Nice and stopped by this restaurant for lunch.
A small buffet with freshly made salads, Ceviche and octopus. That octopus particularly was superb.
It was accompanied by 2 mains – either fish rissotto or slow cooked beef. The beef particularly was the standout.
Chef can cook. Will have to return and try the a la carte menu.

We had one of the best meals ever in this restaurant: crab bisque(wow!), skipjack and steak. Pretty amazing cocktails as well. The service was attentive and welcoming, and the setting near the harbour was perfect. We booked via google which was easy, and probably advised during peak hours/season.
