If you’d told me this little Venezuelan seafood spot in Granbury could teleport me straight to the Caribbean, I would’ve checked your temperature. But here we are: five stars for food, five stars for atmosphere, and five stars for the staff who made me feel like I’d wandered into a beachside shack somewhere along Venezuela’s coastline.

I started with the ceviche, and if I’m being honest, I had to close my eyes for a moment. Suddenly I wasn’t in Texas anymore—I was sitting under a palm-frond roof, listening to waves slap the shore, wondering whether I should take a nap in a hammock or order another plate. The mixed fajitas arrived sizzling like they were auditioning for their own telenovela, and they delivered. Every bite tasted like someone had bottled Caribbean sunshine and smuggled it into the kitchen.

The staff? Imagine the warmth of a Venezuelan grandmother combined with the enthusiasm of someone who knows their food is about to change your life. Super friendly, quick, and genuinely happy you’re there.

If you’re craving an edible vacation—one that requires no passport, sunscreen, or awkward airport pat-downs—this is your place. Highly recommend closing your eyes between bites for the full beachfront illusion. Five stars all day.

Phenomenal in every way. Mix fajitas are shrimp, chicken and beef with peppers and perfectly caramelized onions and 3 tortillas. It’s a lot of food but if you save one tortilla you can put the leftovers on top and wrap it in the foil it came in for an over the top taco with zero waste. It does not come with beans, rice, cheese or quac and you won’t miss any of that, it’s that good. The ceviche and jalapeño salsa is included and is definitely the best I’ve ever had. The sweet tea is sweet enough to work as dessert which is how I love it, and the fajitas come with two types of limes that can go in the tea after fajita duty. Service is wonderful, the restaurant is immaculate, and the music is great. I would not change a single thing.

My parents and I stopped by La Sombrita for lunch today. It was our first time visiting this restaurant and we were not disappointed. Overall, this was a highly enjoyable and satisfying experience.

FOOD QUALITY: We ordered a vegetarian breakfast burrito, ground beef burrito, and steak fajita burrito with two sides of refried beans. Beverages included two coffees and a Coke. (Note: There is no soda fountain, so soft drinks must be purchased by the can or bottle.) The tortillas and refried beans were homemade and fresh, and the entire meal itself was simply delicious.

SERVICE: Friendly, conscientious, and attentive. It is a small operation, and at the time of our visit, the cook, greeter, and waitress were all responsible at various times for performing various functions in the restaurant. It took about 10-15 minutes for us to receive our food, but I want to stress that this was simply due to the small number of people manning the restaurant and NOT to poor customer service. During that time, we were repeatedly checked on by the friendly staff, who apologized for the wait. And besides, the quality of the food was well worth the wait!

ATMOSPHERE: The inside of the restaurant is tidy, quaint, and homey. Orders are placed at the front counter after which customers who wish to dine in can find a table in the back room. Seating is limited. There are four small round tables each of which can seat 3-4 customer comfortably. However, the dining area is clean, intimate, and brightly lit with natural light. (Window blinds are available if needed.)

Overall, we had a 5/5 experience at La Sombrita. I invite newcomers to visit this restaurant where you will be warmly welcomed and treated to some of the area’s tastiest food!

I stopped in here in the early afternoon and they didn’t disappoint.
The wait was a bit longer than fast food, but it was freshly prepared for me rather than sitting around. I had the fish tacos of which there were 3, each of the delicious soft tortillas very full of fried tilapia strips. Salad topped with avocado and the salsas were on the side. I would definitely order these again.
I also ordered the small, which I am still eating on, ceviche, beautiful, fresh and tasty. I got the mixed fish and shrimp. Next time I will get only shrimp because it was cut very fine and I thought I could see it, I couldn’t really taste it.
I ordered this to go. The cashier and waitress were very friendly.
I recommend this place for fresh, delicious authentic Mexican food and friendly staff.

I was excited to try this place because the great reviews. I got the carnitas street tacos and it was nothing but fat on them. It grossed me out. My husband got the steak and he said it was too greasy, but tasted ok. The elotes in the cup was canned corn and wasn’t the best .. no seasoning at all. Just corn, cheese and mayonnaise. Maybe it was just a bad day but I don’t think we’ll be back. Service was great I will say that. They were very friendly

This is a must stop for me every time I come into granbury. I knew the woman who cooks a lot of the food from when she just had her little shop in the gas station by the park. So happy to see they have their own place now! The parking lot is so-so and the restaurant itself isn’t as fancy as some but you genuinely feel cared for here. The staff is super nice and my first time coming in they gave me a large free drink while i waited for my food. The atmosphere is like when you know a friend who knows a friend whose cousin’s grandma makes really good food, it really feels like hanging out in the driveway or back garage of a friends place while their family dotes on you and stuffs you with amazing food from grandma’s kitchen. If you have a chance, definitely give it to this place! Highly recommend and I hope they get more business.

2 quesedillas, 2 Mexican cokes, 1 bottled water- $35. Probably won’t go back at that price…. prices were marked out on the menu.

Not the best value, but the food was good. Friendly service. Dining area is tiny, but it was just myself and a guest.

Overpriced scam. $4 per Taco,my brother said he went there the other week and it was $2 for each so they’ve double their prices (allegedly). They also charge me for two pieces $3 each for “fresh cheese”, which was flavorless and tiny. So $6, and I only got one cheese anyway. Let me reiterate. They charged THREE DOLLARS FOR A TINY SLICE OF CHEESE. Scam. You can go to the store and get a whole block of cheese For $1 or a bag of cheese. My brother ordered 3 tacos, fries, and a drink. I ordered a torta fries and drink. Came out to $37, because of the cheese scam and the taco prices. Bullshit and not returning, food was mid at best.
