What?! How did I not know about this place sooner? This isn’t your typical Mexican restaurant — their menu is very regional to the state of Durango .
As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a warm smile. I believe he was the owner because he took great pride in explaining the menu and how to order. You can choose from four options — a gordita, burrito, quesadilla, or platter — and everything listed above the drinks can be selected as your filling or entrée for the platter.
When the food came out, the owner brought my husband a complimentary gordita to try (the ground beef and potato one), and he immediately wished he had ordered more. I ordered the machaca (beef and eggs) platter with corn tortillas for my 5-year-old, and he ate the whole thing! I also tried three different gorditas — my favorite was the machaca-filled.
They brought out both their green and red salsas, and the flavors were excellent. The red was a bit spicier, which I loved.
This is a great little hole-in-the-wall restaurant that I will definitely be coming back to so I can try the rest of their menu!

Delightful, delicious, and authentic Durango Mexican fare! Everything is made fresh in-house daily. The homemade salsas are masterful—combining flavor and the perfect level of heat! The welcoming owner took care to explain the plethora of menu options, educated us on the Durango-style of food, and offered helpful suggestions. We are vegetarian. The menu has multiple vegetarian items with options to customize: gordita, burrito, quesadillas, or platter. The options are very accommodating depending on how hungry you are. We loved *everything* and left craving more! Also—the homemade flour tortillas are the BEST TORTILLAS we’ve ever eaten. Eat here!

This place is an absolute gem. The food here is unquestionably delicious, savory, and great quality. The Mexican hot dog is a must try and one of the popular menu items. Everything we ordered was amazing. My wife said her margarita was great. The homemade tortillas and homemade salsas go perfectly with everything. This place would work well for any group, date, family, or larger party.

There are a ton of Mexican restaurants in Omaha. I’ve tried many—some are just okay, while others are really good.
I’ve been to La Sierra a couple of times, and what keeps me coming back is the freshness, incredible taste, and high-quality food they serve. The food is outstanding!

My wife and I stopped here for some dinner one evening. The menu was a bit confusing but the lady working there made it super easy to order. We tried three different things and they were all great. The people were really nice and the place is absolutely perfectly clean. The food was hot and fresh and it only took a few minutes to get served. This place is worth a trip to 10th St. for a try.

Incredibly delicious fresh and homemade food, I’ve never had a gordita, but I don’t think there are many like these out there! And the people were so nice. Great for vegetarians too!

I need to come back and get the chicarron.
The rajas con queso was my favorite and my sister had the asado de puerco and she said it was super tender and flavorful.
