From other reviews, I’m going to assume they have good cookies and pastries. Unfortunately, I wanted cake.
The cake looked fine… baked well, had proper filling, icing nicely decorated. Presentation, fine.
Issue is the cake had absolutely zero flavor. The icing, cake, and filling each had such lack of both flavor and sweetness that I literally went to get a banana and orange from the kitchen to ensure I didn’t have a sudden onset of an illness that took out my taste buds. I really can’t believe how empty of an experience it was. No more cakes from here. ☹️

My mother bought a 50.00 plate of cookies and they were excellent so we stopped in to get biscotti. There were 2 women who could be bothered to wait on us or answer our questions. The heavy set one with the ponytail even seemed mad we were there. I was going to ask if we offended her but we have been going to Lenny’s and they are so nice there we will just go back. We live so close to this place I could walk but no thanks.

The atmosphere, the service, and the foods….. WOW. After being at many Italian bakeries over the years and in many areas…. This place FAR surpasses them all. The sfogliatella….. sausage and broccoli rabe bread, Italian rainbow cookies… BOMBBBBB. ABSOLUTELY a 5/5 and a definite on the rotation. Highly recommend!! Everything is exquisite and perfectly made.

MY GOODNESS what an amazing place! I was in town with my mom to handle some sad family business, and we needed a pick-me-up. Enter La Scala and the truly angelic Angela, who helped us with our order. Everything we picked out was so delicious and affordable that we went back the next day on our way home. You have to try the amoretti under cannoli cream and chocolate with a cup of coffee. Absolutely divine. We’ll be stopping by on each trip to Jersey!

It was my first time there. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I was buying danish and turnovers and croissants to go. But they have seating area of you wish to sit down and have coffee and cake to eat. They have bread, rolls, muffins and all types and desserts.

I was given a ricotta cheesecake from my friend and neighbor because she knew that I loved them. But what was very disappointing was after I tried a piece there was no flavor at all and there was a strawberry topping on it that I had no idea what it was because it was all horrible and tasteless. Very sad!! The shame is that I have been to La Scala periodically for the last 40 years and was always very happy with anything that I’ve purchased.
