This is an authentic Southern Mexican restaurant in Asheville, North Carolina. The salsa is homemade, not too spicy, which were fresh and flavorful. The cheese dip was so delicious that I poured it over my burrito. Once seated, we were given complimentary street corn, which was a nice touch. The portion sizes are generous, so come hungry. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Overall, a great spot in Asheville if you’re craving authentic Mexican food with excellent service and a warm atmosphere.

La Rumba is absolutely fantastic. They have an extensive, creative vegan menu in addition to their regular menu. I had the best vegan stuffed poblanos I’ve ever had. Not to mention the guacamole and margaritas! It’s family owned and everyone is so friendly, kind and extremely knowledgeable about their menus, as well as allergies. The atmosphere is lovely and comfortable. Prices are great. Plenty of parking. I highly recommend visiting La Rumba!!!

We live here in Asheville and saw great reviews on this place from the Asheville foodies Facebook group. High marks. We spent many years in Austin- we’ve been looking around here for a good Mexican place for a while.

I glanced at the menu but considering the rating we drove over just after they opened at 11 on Sunday morning.

When we open the menu, I was looking around for enchiladas, and the waitress explained to me that they didn’t have any. Reynaldo, the chef and owner. Came by our table and explained their type of cuisine. Reyes is super nice guy.
Long story short I’m glad they didn’t have any enchiladas!
I had the puffy wrap with Chorizo- everything from the fluffy puffy tortillla to the chorizo was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Muy fabuloso

My wife had the enfrijoladas – neither of us have had anything like it, in Texas or Mexico.
Muy delicioso!

Highly recommended- we will be back!

If you want AUTHENTIC MEXICAN food. I highly recommend that you check this family owned restaurant out. I started with their queso and chips as an app (cleaned up all the chips and dip). Followed by their Adobo de puerco with rice and beans. The meal didn’t stand a chance against my spoon. After living in California for 5 years I was craving some legit Mexican food while I made my way through Asheville this evening. I randomly chose this spot but what stood out to me the most was their menu. It wasn’t your typical Tex mex menu. They had sides like yuca an plantain. And I had a feeling the food was going to be amazing. Everything I ate was very well seasoned. You could tell gramma added her touch and spirit into the food! It was nice to sit and talk with the owner while I cleaned my plate. He gave me a good back story on how the restaurant was started and how the recipes came to fruition. Thanks for having me at your restaurant brother Ray! I appreciate your hospitality.

It is so cool that this place has an entire vegan menu! Thank you so much for doing this!

I would love to give the place five stars. But the weight staff didn’t really know anything about the vegan food. And if it was all vegan I would totally give it all five stars! But so close! I wish I could give it 4.7 stars because it’s so close! Everybody kept raving about this place. It was hard to pick something from the menu because I couldn’t make up my mind as to what would be the healthiest and at the same time the most fulfilling. I went for the salad and it was definitely fulfilling! I love the portion size! And I really liked how they had something different instead of chips and salsa that usually comes out. Instead they had some sort of vegan cheese covered corn vegan Mayo. And it was so delicious! I’m definitely going back to try many more items on the Vegan menu!

Out of towner…solo trip in, sat at the bar. Ray took great care of me. I had the house steak burrito. You have the choice of 2 sides…I chose both style beans. I would not change my rating, however my only suggestion is more steak and less rice in the burrito. Steak tasted great, but it was more rice than anything, for it to be a Steak Burrito. And like I said, it wasn’t so bad for me to drop the rating. Go check em out, they are celebrating 4 years! Congratulations!

We got the bowl of flavors with beef asada (shown) and another with chorizo! Both were phenomenal and the meat was so, so delicious! They come with two sides (we got the platanos, side salad with cilantro dressing, nopales, and charro beans) and all were great! The portions are really great and with their lunch menu, this was all $14 (before tip and tax), and they also gave us street corn to start!

Was looking for a quick place to grab a bite and found this delightful place. The menu was extensive but I fell for the puffy wrap. It was so good I came back 2 days later for the same thing. All the sides were good but expected more from the mac and cheese. Will come back by again for sure when I’m town.
