Our restaurant is named after La Rocca, a medieval castle in the heart of Imola, the bustling northern Italian town where chef Robert Pantusa’s love affair with Italy and Italian food began. La Rocca Osteria is the culmination of a 25 year journey in the restaurant business which started with 3 years at the Michelin 2-star Il San Domenico restaurant, Italy before returning home to New Jersey. Robert’s recipes are simple and are often the product of generations. And, like that medieval castle, they have stood the test of time in an ever changing world. His signature dishes, perfected over that 25 year journey, use only the highest quality ingredients and traditional techniques of which his grandmother in Italy would have been proud.

La Rocca has easily become my favorite restaurant in Montclair! The atmosphere is perfect for a nice Italian meal with family or friends and the food is always phenomenal. Lovely spot! Pictured is the lasagna which is the best I’ve ever had.

The food here was amazing. It’s a BYOB with no corking fee. The lavender lemonade was refreshing. My eggplant was not greasy or over cooked. My lamb chops were to die for. Awesome spot and I can’t wait to return. Make reservations because it was packed for a late Sunday night. There is some noise because everyone is chatting it up and enjoying their meal.

Try this place, don’t think twice. Great atmosphere and very kind staff. We didn’t make reservations for Valentines Day and this place was so kind to accommodate us regardless of being full. We had the pate, grilled octopus, skirt steak and the spaghetti allá chitarra. You can’t go wrong, this pasta was better the I’ve had in the Amalfi Coast!

We had the Antipasto Misti! And the appetizer size Orechiette to start. As my main dish I had the Skirt steak medium rare! It was amazing! So flavorful! I enjoyed every bite. The mashed potatoes with the infused caramelized onions was wow, amazing. You know how you always save a little bit of your favorite part of the dish for your last bite, well that’s what I did with the mashed potatoes.
Overall everything was amazing! Our server Jackie was so nice, super friendly. The owner Caroline was so nice! She was there to greet us and she was there checking in on us at our table and was the last person we saw!
The environment was nice and warm, friendly, and cozy. I will definitely come back! I have already recommended it to two friends!

Went here after attending the Montclair Jazz Festival and without reservations on a Saturday night. We were able to be seated which set the tone for our dinner. As for the food it was amazing and the specials for the day were excellent. I had a Papadelle with some braised pork and the person I was with had the Risotto and a Halibut steak. We both left with our stomachs full. Nice quiet place off the beaten path of Montclair!

Originally only planned to visit once during our week long trip. But the menu was so good we booked a second visit to end the week off. Both visits had exceptional food, some dishes we reordered and some were new (like from the daily specials which were different each time).

Calamari, Ribeye and Raviolo were good. Carpaccio had no taste. Tuna tartar with tomatoes had no flavor, mostly tomatoes. Rack of lamb had weird spice and was chewy. Three of us tried it and nobody liked it. Dessert we wanted was not available. We did not love it.
