We drove past this spot for months after the tornado hit Temple, and once we heard it had been completely redone, we chose it for date night. Best decision ever.
The interior is stunning — upscale bar vibes, white linen tables, sleek black-and-white service, a gorgeous tiled pizza oven anchoring the open kitchen. It feels like something you’d expect in Austin or Dallas, not right here on W. Adams. Total class act.
We started with the Ahi Tuna Crudo — incredibly fresh, beautifully plated with pickled celery, sweet Italian peppers, avocado purée, and citrus ponzu. Light, bright, and balanced. Then came the octopus over cannellini bean purée — smoky, tender, and perfectly seasoned. An unexpected pairing that absolutely works.
For mains, the Osso Bucco was perfection. Not drowning in sauce (finally!), just enough to complement the airy, buttery polenta. The veal shank was rich and flavorful, served with a marrow fork to scoop out every last decadent bite.
But the real showstopper? The homemade pasta. The pappardelle with braised beef rib was next-level. Melt-in-your-mouth beef, delicate jus, creamy ricotta, and pasta with that perfect fresh bite. We travel to Italy often — and this pasta stands with the best we’ve had.
Exceptional food, elevated atmosphere, and fantastic service (shoutout to our server Austin!). This unassuming Temple gem will absolutely knock your socks off. Real Italian flavor adventure right here at home.

This place was recommended by a friend and we went all the way from Dallas,TX to Temple, TX and it worth the trip. The friendly and very professional staff is a plus, our waitress know very well the menu and the specials for the day and answered all questions, the food was AMAZING, the garlic parmesan bread was delicious, the brick oven pizza that my husband had was off the chain, and the pasta it was delicious. Then came the dessert, the tiramisu and the bread pudding with ice-cream JESUSSSSS!!!, that was sinfully good.

At first glance, this place looks like any other, but once you go inside, you’ll find it surprisingly beautiful and modern. We ordered the beef tartare, mussels, a Caesar salad, beef short rib pasta, ribeye, spaghetti and meatballs, and tiramisu. The only downside was that the pasta in the beef short rib dish was slightly overcooked, but the overall taste was phenomenal! I would recommend serving more bread with the mussels, as the broth is so rich that you wouldn’t want to miss out on dipping your bread in it. Everything else was excellent in taste and quality! I highly recommend visiting, and I’ll definitely be back!

My family and I come to La Riv all the time, and we couldn’t be happier that they’re back open! This is hands down the best spot in town—amazing food, incredible service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Every dish is made with such care and attention to detail, and you can truly taste the quality.
We’ve missed having this gem in Temple, and it’s wonderful to see them thriving again. If you’re looking for a fantastic dining experience, La Riv is the place to be. So grateful to have them back!

Really good tuna crudo! All the food was great that just stood out alot to me. And Allie made our first visit here amazing. We had some of, if not the best mocktails we have ever had crafted by her!! We will be back to try some more menu options and definitely some more delicious drinks! Thank you guys for a great meal and overall experience!

I went to this restaurant on a whim and did not expect the food to be this amazing. Everyone enjoyed their meal, the ambiance was well played out, and the quality of food was evident. I would recommend this gem any day. (I did a walk-in but I believe it’s best to call in and make a reservation for busier hours)

We thought we try this place and see how it is. It’s a cute little place. Love the bar selection! Nice place to enjoy a drink or go on a dinner date or even a friend date. Love the drinks I gotten old fashioned they are great. The food is amazing! My steak was cooked perfectly just how I wanted and lots of flavor. The Mac and cheese is okay probably won’t get that again. But the asparagus oh may delicious along with the mashed potatoes. Also I highly recommend their bread that they have on their appetizers it’s great as well!The service was great the first time we went we got a server name Susie I believe she was great. The second time we went we got a different server I can’t remember his name but he was nice as well. We order a pizza oh yes it was wonderful! It was flavorful not too thick had a little crunch great amount of sauce and the pepperoni was good! So of course we had to come back a third time unfortunately we forgot to take pictures of that dish but we got a wedge salad with no blue cheese not a fan of blue cheese so we got ranch instead that was great! I recommend getting that! Also we order the salmon plate with veggies oh that melted in your mouth it was very good. And I am picky when it comes to my seafood but it delicious! Personally I love this spot great food great atmosphere people are nice, food is reasonable price and so are the drinks. Recommend trying this place!
Update: me and wife usually come here on Saturday but we decided to come here on a Tuesday and we were super disappointed we order food we usually get and it did not taste the same I guess it depends on what cook is there! I guess we will continue to only come here on the weekends instead of a weekday!

I have never left a review for a restaurant. I came in because I wanted something different from the smoothie place next door. The environment, the people, the food, the attention to detail so close to closing hours. The food was SPECTACULAR! The roasted chicken was amazing. The service was amazing. I will definitely come back and let my peers know about this place. You can tell how much they put their care into their food, service and environment. Thank you, this is my first time in temple and this was delicious. 5/5

Pretty good food, but feels very over priced for what you get. We got the cheese board which was delicious. My husband got a pasta dish which was delicious, but a pretty small portion, and I got the salmon which was amazing, but my roasted carrots were basically raw. We had great service and loved the atmosphere, but we need the food to knock it out of the park for those prices, which unfortunately it did not.
