We ordered the Steak Au Poivre, which was, cooked to the right temperature and I actually loved how much pepper was in the sauce.

I discovered this French comfort food gem a few years ago, and I keep coming back to share La Ripaille with friends. The owner, Alain Laurent, manages every detail from the moment you walk in. His passion for food and life is really the main ingredient here. The escargot is my favorite—it’s prepared in a way I’ve never been able to find anywhere else (Cassolette d’Escargots à Notre Façon). The specials are always amazing. I’ve never opened a menu, I just let Alain make all the decisions and he never disappoints to surprise and delight. This place will always be special and dear to my heart.

We found this place somewhat randomly, and could not have been more delighted! The service was absolutely phenomenal – we were lucky enough to meet the owner (who you’d expect to go above and beyond), but the staff was equally kind and professional and made the night feel extremely special. Each course was delicious – I’d especially recommend the escargot, even if you don’t think of yourself as someone that would normally order something like that. Overall a fantastic evening that left everyone talking about the experience the rest of the night.

We’ve walked past this restaurant many times and wondered about it; finally went for an anniversary dinner, and it was terrific. Having read several reviews raving about the escargots appetizer, we ordered it, and can confirm that it is amazingly delicious. Also the wild mushroom in a pastry shell appetizer. The blanquette de veau and fish special (sea bass) were terrific, though we could have done without the blob of spinach served with the sea bass (though hiding under the sea bass were some perfectly cooked asparagus, so all is forgiven). Good desserts, and Alain, the proprietor, is warm and friendly and waxes rhapsodic, deservedly, about the food. The only negative was the service was slow – we were at the restaurant for at least 2 hours.

Yes, my followers know we eat at @laripaillenyc every Tuesday or Wednesday weekly, outdoor, since October 2020. They only closed for the months with no indoor dining. The owners are like families; staffs are super friendly and professional. The food is just yummy; anything on the menu, appetizers to desserts. Wine choices are great too. We meet WV neighbors and become pandemic dinner buddies. This place is such a neighborhood gem .

Love to dine at this French bistro. I went to this restaurant twice already in a short period of time. The place is cozy, the food is good and the service is attentive. I highly recommend to order the daily specials he suggest because they are cooked just right. The owner himself serves the tables and funny, you can’t resist his thank you kisses. Every customer is so so welcome from him.

The chicken ballotine was fabulous, with creamy mashed potatoes and carrots with green beans. Also can’t suggest enough the tarte au citron for dessert.

French food… yes, but come for cosy ambiance of walls painted French blue, warmth of fire place (will this work soon?), and charming hosts!

Wonderful French Bistro! The food, atmosphere & staff were all excellent. The Beef Bourguignon & broccoli mousse were delicious. I plan to go back again soon.
