I rarely frequent Weslaco, thereby I don’t eat at this city’s restaurants. However, due to weather conditions, I was passing by and said to myself, “geez, maybe some good Mexican food would hit the spot right now.” That’s when I saw, “La regia Tacos and gorditas.” As someone whose parents are from Monterrey, memories of my mother’s cooking came back to me. Sadly, unlike my mother’s extraordinary cooking and love, this place took 10 minutes to take our orders. It took another 15 minutes to bring us coffee (which we needed to request), but hey, there was a previous customer’s coffee cup on our table. We then waited 40 minutes. Horrible experience!!! The food as decent (the tacos de vapor de chicharrón prensado were good).!!!!

First time visiting. Place was a little loud. Waitresses were overwhelmed with clients. Ask waitress if plate of Bisteck ranchero was too spicy she said no. It was super spicy as well as the beans it came with. The POZOLE was horrible. Hominy was just dropp in bowl. Soup was cold n tasteless. No flavor at all. Ask for a small cup of fideo and it was not freshly cooked. Will never go back . Did not eat left meal at table, still paid $28 plus.

I’m giving it a 2 for service and a 1 for food. The food is flavorless. The rice and meat in their tacos had no flavor I wasn’t attended to until about 10 minutes. There were only 3 customers. I was very disappointed.

This is a super good hidden jewel . The gorditas are delicious . They have different to choose from. Chicharron, desebrada, nopales, beans with cheese and picadillo. They also serve breakfast , tamales and taquitos on homemade flour tortillas
