I’ll lead with saying, best tamales in the county. I ordered tacos as well, they brought me meat in a soft corn shell… Its kinda like, dress your own taco with whatever you want here. The steak wasn’t fresh, it’s like the same meat they use for everything. That part was disappointing… I was expecting some like sliced medium rare skirt or flank steak and it was just chopped well done steak from some unknown cut of beef (I hope) with a glossy grey hue to it. Food is relatively cheap, this is my second time here. Last time everything was just OK and this time much the same. They seem to take pride keeping the place clean. Still, I have no reason to come back. It’s just ok. You can get just ok just about anywhere. Unless you’re in the mood for a Tamale, than I suggest you get one here.

Wonderful experience at La Reata. The food is definitely not texmex. Very flavorful food from good quality ingredients. The portions are mansized even for lunch menu. They do have a salsa bar which is an interesting spin on chips and salsa. The place is much larger than it appears from the outside. Does not have a lot of parking at busy times. Service for groups as large as 12 not a problem. I give it a hardy thumbs up.

I get that the food here is probably closer to authentic Mexican, but the prices are outrageous compared to the two Mexican restaurants on either side of them. For the money it’s Monterey’s or Mr. Salsa as usual.

I honestly would never eat here again. The cleanliness or the lack thereof is very unsettling. The “bean dip” clearly had water in it to stretch it I assume. Absolutely horrible. A piece of hair was matted on my plate when they brought it out and the cutlery was wrapped in stained napkins.

Overpriced! Meat was not fresh. The 6oz. Thin sliced ribeye with fried beans and rice and a little bell peppers and tomatoes is $24.95. See the photo, I mixed the beans and rice, that is $24.95! The ribeye didn’t have a price on the menu so I thought it might be less than $20 but I was wrong. It tasted like it’s been sitting in the ref before it was cooked. The taco plate $9, did not look appetizing and small portion. See the photo, it was served like that. The meat was cheap, No salsa or tomatoes, cheese and lettuce on the side. I asked for the salsa and I was pointed to the bar to get it. I was hungry but I have to get up to get my own toppings! We will never come back to this restaurant. The place looks nice outside but old and dim inside. Sorry! I seldom leave a feedback and it’s negative. Zero stars!

Just WOW, how in heaven can the owner run this business? All of the Aguas frescas were rotten and made me sick, all not just one flavor, waited 35 minutes for my food and never was made meanwhile all of the 4 waitress were sitting in a booth chit-chating, we stood up and left, the waitress excuse was this: I’m sorry but the cook is mad/upset and didn’t want to make our food!!! Unbelievable, and to put the cherry on top it seems that someone lives in the premises as there is a room next to the restroom and they had underwear hanging to dry, definitely will be making a report to DHEC. YOU BEEN WARNED ⚠️

I think this is as Mexican as it will get in South Carolina. But surprisingly, it wasn’t too far off for this CA girl! Chili Relleno in CA is called Pasilla peppers here in SC. Same thing I know, but it was just interesting the differences between West and East coast. The CA burrito did not have French fries or sour cream which was kinda disappointing, but oh well ‍♀️, ill get that when I’m back home. The horchata was pretty amazing, and the avocado salsa was my favorite. Overall, good food and great service.

Food was amazing but what stuck out the most was the salsa bar includes the taco toppings so you can add your own onion, cilantro, jalapenos and radish.
