The place is really great, the 2 dollar grab bag of assorted bread plus the fact that in general the bread is really great makes this place worthwhile. For 8 dollars I was able to feed myself and 2 other people and still have some left over for the day after. Cash only isn’t a problem at all and honestly it’s the reason I even keep bills on me anymore.

If you are tired of heavy and greasy donuts, you will love this place. Mexican pastry is predominately bread like but sweet. The toppings are generally spiced sugar. Great with a fruit breakfast. The place is super small with only room to walk in, grab a cup of coffee, a tray full of sweet breads, and pay the nice lady.

If you are new to Mexican pastry, this is a good first time place to try them out. When you first enter, the aroma is just enticing. Most “panaderias” (bakeries), operate the same way. Grab a tray, a pair of tongs, check out the pastries and put them on your tray. When you’re done, go to the cashier and pay up. Prices aren’t generally posted but you will, I assure you, be pleasantly surprised at how much you get for so litte. Mexican pastry, or “pan dulce” is a perfect for eating with tea, coffee and even milk.
Next time you’re in Old Town La Quinta, go ahead and give it a try. Plenty of nearby street parking or if your timing is just right, in the small parking lot. Very helpful people, so don’t be shy about asking questions.
