La Poubelle Bistro & Bar

  4.2 – 307 reviews  $$ • French restaurant

Ms.Jacqueline opened La Poubelle in 1969 based on a childhood dream of having a crèperie in America. With humble beginnings, a small kitchen where the bar now resides, crepes, omelettes, escargot & her family’s secret recipe for onion soup were served to the music of Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel & Charles Aznavour. Five decades later, La Poubelle has truly become a Hollywood landmark, catering to loyal neighbors & friends. We would like to sincerely thank those of you who have supported us throughout the years. For more information please email us at – [email protected] We are open for indoor & outdoor dining. Happy Hour is 5-7 PM daily. We are currently not accepting reservations. We are available for filming & event rental opportunities!

Vibrant eatery serves cocktails & French bistro classics into the wee hours, plus sidewalk seating.

This place is SO charming right along with its owner Francois! The food is INCREDIBLE and you’ll have trouble putting the fork down! Trevor and the rest of the staff we encountered were super helpful and kind. They used to make you order from a QR code but they are offering “old school service” or that option is still available too! We chose to have a server and enjoyed our conversation, the ambiance, the food , and Francois is the most precious man ever go support his business! Merci beaucoup! ❤️

I love French cuisine so a Bistro on Franklin Avenue with a good reputation is an easy sell to me. Tonight we dined outside and I really like being able to sit and watch all the foot and car traffic go by. It’s also right across from the Church of Scientology Celebrity Center so it adds to the only in LA experience. The menu changes often so the options will be different depending on the day. The way it works is you bring up the menu via the QR code and pay for the entire meal, including tip, upfront. Then runners bring out the food to you. This is not the location to go for white glove service, it’s a more casual setting where you order by your phone and can leave as soon as you are done.

Pretty awful. A trash can indeed (poubelle = trash can in French).

Went for then music, will be back for the food. What a great find/spot! Loved the crowd, the vibe and especially the music venue, Le Son. Felt like a vintage, old school speak easy. Intimate and sophisticated, yet laid back. Great cocktails too! One of my new spots for music or just to hang out, here in LA!

Great place to enjoy some amazing food. It does get very loud inside with the bar patrons. I just wished they would not have ran out of one of the food dishes. Valet near by is very inexpensive.

We came during happy hour and got a lot of half priced appetizers. The food was good, but I feel like it was way too dark inside. The style is really cool with all the interesting stuff on the walls, but I felt like it was hard to appreciate it all with how dark it was.

A unique experience. Burger is delicious and they have great Happy Hours. Dimmed lighting make it romantic. No table service though, all through the phone.

I visited LA and was looking for a French restaraunt. I decided to give this place a try. Don’t waste your money. Horrible food and I come to find out, it’s name means bin/trash.
