La Posada is a small, family-owned Mexican restaurant in Southwest Detroit that feels very authentic and homey. The place originally started as a small market before growing into a restaurant serving traditional dishes from the Mexican state of Jalisco.
I ordered a few tacos and they were simple but really flavorful. The meat was well seasoned, and the fresh onions, cilantro, and salsa made everything taste great. The portions were generous and the prices were very reasonable.
The atmosphere is casual and friendly, with a neighborhood vibe that makes it feel like a hidden gem. Overall, La Posada is a great spot if you want authentic, home-style Mexican food in Detroit’s Mexicantown area.

Really disappointing.
Good chips and salsa. Good rice and beans.
Otherwise everything is pre-made and reheated, which makes for very greasy food that seems the opposite of fresh. Any attempt deviate from the menu is like asking a 5 year old to cook for me.
Yes, we would like the cheese (that you forgot the first time) melted on top of the enchiladas. Did you really need to ask?
Not vegetarian friendly. Only one sauce, plus another 2 for tacos.
“Service” was robotic.
As far as decor, it’s a converted market. That means you’re looking at orange painted cinder blocks and rows of food that you can buy on your way out…
Which will be soon after you walked in!

I’m not an expert at Mexican food, but this is some of the best and freshest I have ever had. AND they have off-street parking!

We go here once a week for breakfast. I can’t say enough good things about the place. We absolutely love it. Food is awesome, staff is polite and patient with our lack of Spanish skills ( ) and the prices are reasonable. I wish I could spend an entire day here just to try all of the food they have. After 5 trips we are still blown away by how good the food is.
See you next week.

I almost hesitate to put this review online for fear that everyone will discover this gem and somehow ruin it! One of the best pastor tacos I’ve ever had. The meat was complex and delicious in it’s flavors. I look forward to coming back soon!
