This restaurant was truly one of the highlights of our Cape May vacation! As Argentinians, it felt so special to find an authentic Argentinian restaurant in Stone Harbor. From the moment we walked in, the host was welcoming and the interior was beautiful — I especially loved seeing the Argentinian flag on the wall, which made us feel right at home.
The food was absolutely incredible, full of flavor and easily the best I had all week. We even asked our waitress if we could meet the chef, and it was such a joy to meet him — not only because the food was amazing, but also because he’s Argentinian too. He was warm, kind, and you could tell how much passion he puts into his cooking.
We actually tried to go back again later in the week, but there were no reservations available (not surprising given how great this place is!). Not a problem, though — we will definitely be back.
And for anyone wondering: even if you’re more used to American or Italian food, don’t hesitate to try this spot. The dishes are approachable, authentic, and likely some of the best food you’ll have in the area. Highly recommend!

An extremely delightful dining experience.
Years ago we ate at the chef’s tiny restaurant near Mac’s pizza. First time I had Argentine food and it was fantastic. Fast forward to today and the chef is better than ever. Highly recommend.

Date night at its finest. Now that’s a definition of 5 out of 5 ⭐️
✨ Good food and great service (aka our dear Gabby ) At La Porteña in Stone Harbor, the Argentinian flavors were absolutely on point. The highlight? Chef Lucas personally came out and served us prawns brought in all the way from Montauk—fresh, perfectly prepared, and unforgettable.
If you’re looking for authentic Argentinian cuisine with hospitality that goes above and beyond, this is the spot. Highly recommend!

Best restaurant we have ever tried in Stone Harbor! All the appetizers were things we would have never chosen on our own but each one blew us away. They bring all four appetizers for each person and they are very decent portions we were almost full by the time our entrees came. My favorite appetizers were the “corn and corn” grits and the fresh tomato gazpacho. For my entree I got the lemon ricotta gnocchi with lobster- it was phenomenal and melted in your mouth. The flat iron steak was also fantastic! Dessert was chocolate pudding with peaches and cream, wow! Service was also fantastic and the restaurant was a very cool and unique setup. Truly such a gem we can’t wait to go back!

The experience was amazing from start to finish. All of the dishes had incredibly fresh ingredients and were thoughtfully curated. I feel like I was encouraged to try a few new things that expanded my palate and I’m so glad I did!
For the main I had a 10/10 authentic Argentinian short rib accompanied by a chimichurri and tallow fries that were to die for. The dulce de leche rice pudding was the perfect way to end the meal as well.

We couldn’t be happier to have a place of this level to visit at the shore. We are trying to work our way through the entire menu and have been 5+ times. It’s not really possible since it changes regularly but we enjoy trying. Some are worried about pre-fixed menus at shore spots but we have not had a better value for what Chef Manteca is grilling up each night here. A must visit…
Lastly, we have a person with Celiac in our family and they were able to accommodate them perfectly with a gluten free frier and delicious alternatives to the few dishes that had gluten in them.

Stupendous new restaurant in Stone Harbor. The appetizers were are unique from each other and had such amazing ingredients. The empanada with olives and hard boiled egg among the filling was great, the ceviche with tuna and peppers amazing, the gazpacho with blueberries and cucumbers refreshing and the unique corn with corn grits dish I cant even describe well but it was dang good! And then the entree of the Secreto cut of pork was the most succulent cut and flavor of any pork dish I’ve had. Also tried a great veal milanese as well. If you’re looking for a new restaurant in Stone Harbor to try, this has to be it.

We sat for our fourth Chef’s Table meal of the season at La Porteña last night. Once again Lucas and his team knocked it out of the park. Given that we are repeat chef’s table customers, we presented them with the challenge of not repeating any dishes. Lucas has literally wowed us with every dish at every meal, while also thoughtfully addressing my long Covid disordered taste issues. I was never a fan of oysters until he presented NJ fresh harvested oysters raw with an amazing watermelon mignonette and then at the next meal grilled with delicious accompaniments. Last time, the ravioli with fresh horseradish was startlingly good. And that’s exactly what Chef Manteca excels at – creating brilliantly balanced combinations of surprising ingredients. This evening we were treated to a combination of cerviche of Argentinian red shrimp combined with local melon that exploded on the palate. The miso candy roaster squash soup was also a revelation. As someone who adores squash in all its incarnations, this soup and its accompaniments made me sit up and say, “wow, I’ve not tasted anything like that before!” As always, La Porteña’s beef main course accompanied by herbed tallow fries and salad is always outstanding. We’ve enjoyed the strip steak and the ribeye and both were delicious. I cannot recommend La Porteña highly enough! I will, however, say that we’ll be booking our tables, including chef’s table, for summer 2026 as soon as their 2026 reservations open.

After 4 years away from the NJ Shore, La Porteña was the absolute highlight of my trip. We sat at the counter and had the amazing experience of watching Chef Lucas work his magic. The food was outstanding — authentic Argentinian flavors, perfectly grilled meats, and the best empanadas I’ve ever had!!! Warm, welcoming service made it even more memorable. Can’t wait to return — this place is a true gem!

I dined at the Chefs’ counter this past weekend, and the it was an expert and welcoming experience from top to bottom. Menu highlights were the black bass, a summery gratin, and baked oysters with an iberico style ham. Each dish had an elevated and surprising ingredient – so fresh! The salads and the dessert were perfectly full of flavor and a lovely compliment to the rest of our generously portioned dinner. Service was incredibly warm and polished!! I can’t wait to go again <3
