The drinks and food were amazing. La Plaza is a hidden gem in DC. We didn’t partake, but it looked like an amazing tequila and mezcal selection as well. The highlight of the dinner were the Gambas, some of the best we’ve had.

We truly enjoyed our food early on a Sunday afternoon. Our server was helpful and knowledgeable. The indoor space is very narrow. The street (parklet) tables are not level. We chose the enclosed patio. The escalivada was first: tasty with grilled pita, but it did not evoke flavors of Mexico. It is a messy-to-eat dish. The mango margarita was complex and well-balanced. The flautas de pollo were crispy and served attractively. The two salsas were milder than expected. The taco coliflor al pastor (not shown) was delicious, with pineapple and red mole. The surprise layer on my tacos rajas con crema was a layer of browned cheese, cooked onto the tortilla. We will certainly return here.

I love this place so much. I live in the neighborhood and was thrilled when the Chicatana team could move to a bigger space and make this a wine and tapas spot.
The wine is excellent and the food is absolutely amazing. The gambas de ajillo are sublime, as are the papas bravas, the seared scallops, and all their jamons.
Go for a special occasion. Heck go for any occasion.

We were hoping to go to Chicatana, but they were temporarily closed so we came here instead and it was a great lunch! They have delicious tacos at a super reasonable price. We tried al pastor, carnitas, camaron a la diabla (shrimp), carne asada, and pollo — none of them disappointed! I really wanted to try their seared scallops but they were out this time, so I’ll have to come back next time I’m in DC

We love chicatana, and they’ve done it again with La Plaza! The cocktails are amazing (try the mezcal negroni and the margarita; the red sangria was also top notch). Just like at chicatana, the food is excellent—we especially loved the enmolada and chile relleno, and the papas bravas, shrimp, and croquettes were also delicious. Their take on these Spanish staples is very special. Can’t wait to come back!

Consistently excellent. The calamari, the jamon, the pan tomate, the cheeses… you can’t go wrong. Staff is superb and very attentive: my wine glass stem snapped when I had very little left in my glass… they rushed to clean up & still replaced it with a full glass. Recommend sitting at the bar & watching the chef at work.

Delicious food, amazing service! We had the Pinxos, Langostino, Gambas, Pato, Oxtail, scallops, jamón serrano, and 2 bottles of delicious wine recommended to us by the owner, Hector! Everything was so delicious. I particularly loved the sauce with the Langostino, which had the perfect richness with a very balanced hint of spiciness, and the Pinxos, which were perfectly cooked. We’ll be back soon!

An amazing new spot that i highly recommend. I can’t recall ever going to a tapas spot before where every dish was a winner. Bold and layered flavor profiles, perfect execution on the sears and a tight menu that doesn’t overwhelm. Icing on the cake were the delicious sangrias that helped to reset the palate for each next bite. For two of us we had 5 dishes. Can’t wait to go back and try out the other dishes!

If I could give this six stars I would – phenomenal food, amazing service, great ambiance. Highly recommend the chili relleno, the various mole dishes, and the jamon.

RUN don’t walk to this fabulous little eatery!! They craft exceedingly delicious food and serve tasty drinks. The kitchen is lightning fast and the waitstaff extraordinarily pleasant and accommodating! We are foodies (plus hubby is a trained Chef) and we LOVED this place. We can’t wait to return! We even liked it better than DLena… a more upscale Mexican restaurant in D.C.
