Hole in the wall restaurant serving amazing soul food with a California twist! Everything is freshly made with locally sourced ingredients!
Hush puppies are the best I’ve had! Shrimp and grits have the perfect amount of spice and cheese. The chorizo on the breakfast sandwich is AMAZING! And the biscuits! Oh, the biscuits–we often order 6 or 12 more to take home. And of course, they come with a side of homemade jam. And the ghost pepper mac and cheese–creamy, cheesy, and just the right amount of blow your socks off heat! And, and, and…. I could go on and on. It’s all amazingly delicious.
Go! You won’t regret it!

The ride there was beautiful traveling through Santa Paula and seeing all the beautiful mountains.
Seeing the farms that grow the vegetables and the hard workers that keep our grocery stores full. I honor and salute y’all!
Port Hueneme is a beautiful small town. Scenery and atmosphere is so calming , close to the beach as well.

Green Chile Shrimp & Grits: The grits were made perfectly, the right texture and consistency along with the cheese and the green chili sauce was mind blowing. The heat creeps up on you and the shrimp were cooked perfectly
Hot Honey Chicken Biscuit : This biscuit will too any place, anywhere at anytime! The texture, the flavor, the buttery love that goes into this is scrumptious! Now that hot honey chicken. My God! Look y’all I know we time goes to that other place with a lot of chains and they ain’t open on Sundays… (hint, hint) but they ain’t got nothing on this place! The chicken is made with love and fresh! I will get a dozen to go next time.
Hush Puppies : Now, I love a great hush puppy. The taste, texture, heat, crust was everything! The two dipping sauce took it to the next level!
Oyster Mushrooms Tacos: I live they have a local mushroom connect to incorporate a vegetarian alternative to the chicken because “Vegan” is the new trend. I have vegan friends and this will allow the both of beef worlds! They were delicious!
Dulce Latte: Caramel cold brew latte ace with precision and care! Gone ahead and hook yourself up to or of the many flavors available.
Parking: small shopping center there is limited parking there but additional parking behind the shopping center.
Wait Staff: From the Cashier to the Latte Genius who created this masterpiece of a Latte, to the fast service and the excellent food. This is an hidden gem that will be made known for sure.

Biscuits were fantastic! One of the best hole in the wall. Got the biscuit and gravy biscuit, chicken biscuit with hot honey, and hush puppies with Chipotle aioli. Definitely recommend if you like biscuit. Definitely going back when visiting the area.

The Seabird Chicken Sandwich did not disappoint! Smokey, creamy, crispy, complex and delicious . Quite spicy but without overpowering the other flavors. Had the elderberry hibiscus Arnold Palmer with it and it was bomb. The lemonade added just the right tang and touch sweetness.

Great spot, with cafe like feel. It’s clean, fresh, and the food is very good. We had the biscuit breakfast sandwich, biscuit and gravy and steel cut oats. All were delicious!

La Playa Soul is off the charts delicious. Home cooked style. They do not skimp on the heat. The specialty drinks are amazing. Try the Hot honey chicken biscuit and the iced dulce de leche coffee.

Having been here more than 5 times since their opening, I can confidently say their food is fantastic and drinks are great. Seabird chicken sandwich is SO flavorful. Employees are always friendly too. The only challenges i notice are due to the business being new and developing (staffing, equipment/inventory, efficiency, short operating hours). Sometimes I waited pretty long for a complete order to come out and some visits they were sold out of what I wanted/their most popular item. Online ordering that they now have available should help with that. I definitely appreciate the adjustments in menu and addition of sides like fries and hush puppies, and I hope they get the staffing and other things needed to push out their amazing food to more guests. I plan to come back!
