La Playa Maya is one of the most authentic Interior Mexican restaurants in Fort Worth (also a location in Weatherford), with cuisine you won’t find anywhere else.
I’ve eaten about 50% of the dishes and they’ve all been spot-on Five Stars!
I especially LOVE the Fish Tacos with the mango sauce and the Queso! The dish comes with a side salad topped with avocado, and white rice and fresh limes!
My dining companion tried the Chicken with Mushrooms (Pollo Con Championes) and a side salad. The amount of food is, to say the least, enough for another meal- or two to take home for later!
Everything at Playa Maya is SO fresh! And the fish NEVER tastes “fishy”.
The included sides are almost as much food as the entree.
I’ve had over half of the dishes in the 6 years I’ve been dining here.
The price is very affordable and the staff is friendly and non-intrusive! Our server was Angie. She offered suggestions to my companion and made it easy to find alternatives for allergies. The other servers all have great things to say about her, too!
They have a full bar and Margaritas of many flavors.
The atmosphere is family friendly, as well as dog friendly.

Ate dinner here tonight — it’s been a long time since I’ve been here and certainly missed it.
My fiancée and I swung by without a reservation, and we had no problem getting sat. No wait.
Pedro, our server, took great care of us and our food came out hot and fresh. We started with chips and salad, my fiancée had the chicken tortilla soup, and I had the fish tacos.
Everything was perfect and we’ll definitely be back. Atmosphere is true Mexican, very authentic. We left full and happy.
5-stars for the La Playa Maya team — wish I took more pics but was too busy eating

We have coming here for years and have e joked everything on the menu several times over! We came on an icy day and we’re grateful they were open! Just as we always expected, the beans and rice were perfect and I had my go-to Cowboy Enchiladas that are always bigger than my stomach! Can’t wait for next week’s visit!

In a party of 8 recently. Food was average, good just not great. Service was ok. After a couple of rounds of drinks our server never returned to refill us again. It was getting to closing, yet still that’s not cool. The damning of this place is 4 out of 8 got food poisoning from here. The next afternoon serious gastroenteritis—painful. So, just be weary. I’m sure it’s a one off but I’d be remised to not warn others.

Playa Maya off Camp Bowie in Fort Worth is always a solid choice! It’s close to our office, which makes it super convenient for lunch. The place is always clean, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and the service is consistently great. My colleagues and I stopped in during the lunch rush and still got our food quickly. The chips and salsa were fresh and tasty, and the lunch menu had great options. Definitely one of our go-to lunch spots!

Prices have gone up quality has gone down. This used to be my go to place for fahita beef nachos. I even compared every place with them. Last time I was here with my wife I brought up the size and quantity of the meal. They then turned around and offered up a mess of comp tickets for queso. As a attempt to buy us off for a good review. Not happening I found a place far better. Good prices good quality and quality.

One of the better Mexican restaurants. Everything was very good, with the exception of the ceviche. The beef was a bit tough but free of gristle, the chips and salsa tasty, the queso dip was okay, the rice flavorful and well cooked, and the service was friendly.

I wish they had another salsa besides their red one. I love the spice, it’s quite spicy, but it’s missing something. Maybe I’m spoiled to places providing two different salsas on the table. Especially more chipotle or smoky ones, green salsa, or orange options, or even something more mild for children or your palette. Today I ordered to-go, I’ve always eaten inside and never had orders to go before. I was impressed at how fast they got my food out to me. Amazing! I love the tortillas they use in their enchiladas. Their enchiladas are good and I would absolutely continue to come back. I’ve just been searching around Fort Worth for the best enchiladas and I’m having a hard time finding it. Overall, this place has great Tex-mex that is consistent which is a win!

I’ve been coming here for over 20 years . The one thing i love about this place is that it has never changed like most places do. Even some of the people I knew when I first started coming there were still there. The food is still excellent, the service is excellent, and not to mention, the manager or owner will come and check on everything to make sure you are satisfied. The atmosphere reminds me of home, south Padre, or south Texas.

This was my first here because a friend referred me and told me I should not have to wait too long for a table. So, I discovered that he was totally right. My crew and I showed up very hungry right after church on Sunday, we walked in and got a seat right away. I was also pleasantly surprised how the wait for the food was not long at all. The decor was festive, very clean, and the food was great.
Our waitress was great, tending to the pack of us while we enjoyed each other. I loved the giant windows close to our table, and also the outside patio eating area looked like a pleasant place for a date in the future. La Playa Maya is just walking distance from Ridglea Theater which is a Live music venue in a restored 1947 cinema with terrazzo floors & balcony stadium seating. Also next door to Sprouts Farmers Market and nearby Tom Thumb, Starbucks Coffee, and Champions School of Real Estate. I would recommend WITHOUT hesitation.
