I was on foot, waiting for my car to get fixed at the Lincolnwood Toyota and ventured out for a spot of brunch and iced coffee. Saw the Colectivo coffee sign next to the NY Bagel shop I’ve visited in the past and dove into what seemed like an inconspicuous looking La Piñata Bakery for a less chaotic experience where i could possibly have a quick seat to have my coffee.
Once inside, i was struck by how lovingly everything was put together and it reflected in the way my food and drink tasted. Service was hospitable and friendly (thanks, Maya!).
I got an extra large iced coffee w oat milk and a couple of pumps of hazelnut and a spinach & feta empanada. Both Delicious and hearty. I could have easily put away 2 of those empanadas because they are scrumptious, buttery and fresh.
Also, the decor is minimal yet hits the mark-The Frida Kahlo mural in the entrance gets extra points for being able to fit in such a small space.
Compliments to the chef, owners and staff for keeping this place thriving. Ill have to swing through to try those churros and croissants next.
The staff were communicative and I appreciate them being able to make the cake two days earlier than initially stated. Also a big fan of their convenient online ordering system!
Because it is located next to one of the most well known bagel place in the area, it is easy to overlook this place. But if you are there with another person to wait in line for New York bagels, it is totally worth stopping in this place.
I bought their Mexican hot chocolate, horchata iced and two empanadas; the green salsa and molé sauce. Empanadas were okay and mild for their spicy flavor. The Mexican hot chocolate was very good! Iced Horchata tasted like it had a shot of coffee; I’m not a fan of that type of coffee.
My first time was a little better, I bought cookies and pan de Muerto (last year). The bread was delicious. I ordered a hot chocolate, too, but you guys just served me half of the cup. I noticed when I was on my way home Sincerely, I consider your prices are too high. If I came back, it was because the bread was tasty, but after getting sick this time , I will find more options.
