We finally stopped by La Pecora Nera in downtown Farmington and it did not disappoint. I ordered the Italiano and my husband got the Reuben Angelo. Both sandwiches were absolutely packed—they definitely don’t hold back on the meat and cheese!

The corn chowder was the perfect creamy compliment to my meal. Pro tip: grab a bag of their salt & vinegar chips and stack them right on your sandwich for an extra crunch. My only tiny personal preference for next time would be adding a mustard dressing to the Italiano to give it that extra zing. We’ll definitely be back!

I really wanted to give this place five stars. The shop itself is clean, the branding is on point, the staff is super friendly, service is fairly quick, and the location is convenient. The sandwich size is generous, and the bread was fresh and tasty.

I’m a Reuben person, and I really wanted to love their version. The idea of serving it on focaccia is unique and could have been great, but it fell short for me. The cabbage salad on top was too watery, which made the bread soggy, though not completely inedible. The real letdown was the lack of corned beef for a Reuben, that’s the star of the show, and it just wasn’t there in a meaningful way.

I appreciate the concept and the friendliness of the team, but the execution on the Reuben didn’t hit the mark for me.

I have literally been wanting to try this place forever and finally had a date lunch with my husband and enjoyed some awesome sandwiches. The service was great, super nice and helpful. I got the Turkey Bella and the only thing I didn’t love, which I didn’t know it was going to be like that, but the sandwich came hot. I don’t care for hot sandwiches and would tell them to make it cold next time. But the flavor, and the bread was all delicous. The aioli was superb and they have Great Lakes Kettle Chips, which are so good! My husband got the Piacenza Italian sandwich and he said it was excellent, a bit spicy, but so good. There isn’t much seating and the chairs are pretty uncomfortable.

I’ve been coming to la pecora nera for several years now and have never had a meal or experience I didn’t like.

I used to go to their Detroit location pre-pandemic when I worked downtown in Detroit and have been love frequenting this Farmington location since it’s closer to my home in Livonia.

My favorite sandwiches are the turkey bella, napa club, and the Reuben Angelo.
All have been excellent flavor profiles prepared fresh!

Meals are always great and the staff are always super kind and supportive when I come in. Great people who do a lot to listen and support locals and provide them with great meals to enjoy!

Really good and fresh sandwiches. They have an amazing fresh hot gluten free bread, which is a rare find. Piacenza was my personal favorite!

Today was my first time coming this little spot. First I’m gonna say it’s cute inside.. everyone was very pleasant to me. Now on to this food… baby! I got the Cesar salad.. these damn croutons and the entire salad was just exquisite. Mikaela took care of me from start til finish. I will be returning! 10/10

Hands down the best Italian deli and sandwiches in the Detroit area. The gluten free bread was delicious (a bit pricey $5 upcharge) and signature focaccia bread was great as well.
We’ve tried 6 sandwiches and all have been great, Reuben Angelo and Piacenzo are our favorites.
Awesome location and clean storefront!

5 stars is still falling short. They are an awesome bunch with a great spot and fun environment. Sandwiches are made fresh and are simply amazing. They aren’t sandwiches, they are works of art and soooo good. Rest assured, no matter what you get, it will be fantastic and served with a smile. Try something different. They have a board with some fantastic things on it. Just pick one. I am picky. I got 2 that I have never tried and wasn’t sure about. I devoured them and loved every bite. That’s my recommendation. Try something new each time you go.
Relaxed and fun environment. Staff is upbeat and cheerful. Even the clientele add to the comfort of the location. It feels nice just being there.

I recently stopped by La Pecora Nera for lunch after hearing rave reviews about their delicious sandwiches. When I walked in, a very cutec and charming lady at the counter greeted me. Due to my soft voice, there may have been a mix-up when I ordered the #3, the Italiano with extra ham. Instead, I received what seemed to be the #2, a turkey sandwich with extra ham and plenty of delicious bacon on top.

Initially surprised by the mix-up, I decided to give it a try, and I’m glad I did—the sandwich was amazing! The bread, brushed with olive oil and herbs, elevated the sandwich to another level. Despite the initial confusion, the experience turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I will definitely return to try more sandwiches

I’ve tried roast beef sandwiches all over the area, and nothing comes close to this place. The bread was fresh, the portions were generous, and the staff treated me like I’d been coming there for years.

If you’re a roast beef fan, do yourself a favor and try it here. It’s easily my new favorite deli and absolutely worth the trip.
