Found this location searching sandwich spots in Metro Detroit and so glad we did. You can smell the delicious food being made here as soon as you walk in. Noticed all the sandwiches on the menu are made with artisanal focaccia bread, and how can you say no to fresh small batch bread. We ordered 2 sandwiches to dine in and 1 for carry out. The mortadella ricotta a fried mortadella sandwich and the piacenza. First bite and we were teleported to eating street food in Italy. The whole sandwich is so authentic, bread is crispy, soft, so flavorful. The mortadella and ricotta were a beautiful pairing. The sandwiches themselves were also a generous size so you can even save a little for a 2nd meal. We eat a lot of sandwiches, globally and this one was a winner. Staff were friendly and the inside of the cafe was very clean and aesthetic. We highly recommend this spot.

Referred by friends & clients, I finally tried the fabulous La Pecora Nera deli & cafe! My only regret, not adding to my rotation sooner ! SO Fresh! SO authentic, SO delicious! LOVE the atmosphere, the staff was warm & welcoming! I tried their special sandwich today, a tuna melt with caramelized onions & jalapeno chips. Between the flavor & the fresh lightly toasted focaccia, this is hands down one of the best tuna melts I’ve had & hope they keep it on their regular menu. They were fast too. Fast & fresh always a bonus! Double bonus they are open 7 days a week! Great hours too! Definitely recommend this lovely deli & cafe tucked in the heart of downtown Birmingham! ~ Laura

This is such a cute spot! Great to get some food to go or to sit in. The sandwiches were delicious and the bread tastes so fresh. Not to mention they were HUGE! We also got the cookies and the cannolis and the chocolate and that hit the sweet tooth perfectly. The owner and the employees were so attentive and wanted to make sure everything was perfect. Excited to come back!

Perfectly good little sandwich shop. Everything was light and fresh – really hit the spot. If you want to pack your sandwich with flavor, ask for some of the garlic sauce (like a pungent aioli).
Everything is made to order so it isn’t a quick stop. But for an easy Sunday lunch it was perfect.

Best sandwiches in SE Michigan hands down. Very friendly service to match! Always have to go with the spicy chicken Caesar when I’m there, but I also recently tried their monthly special pastrami melt! HIGHLY recommended!

Was in-town for a work conference and wandered into the shop for a quick bite with a friend. All of the staff were super helpful and friendly. One of the employees (maybe the owner?) was incredibly knowledgeable about all the deli meats, explaining different flavor combos to us without coming off too “sales-y”. We sampled their homemade spicy honey mustard and it was a MUST try. We split a couple sandwiches and were thrilled with every bite. The focaccia bread they made in-house is also totally worth the hype. Go enjoy!!

I found this place purely by accident, was hungry, and thought I’d try a new place. Boy, am I glad I did. The sandwiches are easy to understand and will please fans of regular deli offerings, but they’re also unique and interesting enough to really offer something new to those burned out on the whole “sandwich for lunch” experience. The bread is one of the highlights- nothing else like it anywhere I’ve tried. It does more than just hold the sandwich together and give you something to hang on to- it really compliments the other flavors and makes the whole even more than the sum of its delicious parts. Ingredients are fresh and tasty and everything really comes together. The menu offers something for everyone, but isn’t so extensive that you’ll have a hard time deciding. Coffee is great, as well. Looking forward to trying a dessert one day. The staff is energetic and eager to please. Just a great little sandwich shop that I hope is around for many years to come.

Not many places in Michigan that serve a little taste of Italy with speciality Detroit/ Italian style Sandwiches. Had the mortadella and ricotta (highly recommend!) and the papa Georgio. The service was friendly and helpful with recommendations. It’s also a small place so seating will be limited if you go during peak times. Overall the sandwiches were good and will definitely come back for the mortadella and something new.
