Probably it’s the one of best empanadas in upstate. Had the chicken and cheese, beef and cheese very good filling portion and price is good too.
Quesadilla is great had the quesadilla combo comes 2 quesadilla and salada guc and crema the tortilla very rich and nice. The only bad point is the Mexican rice is not good looks like overcooked bad microwave heated. Service is nice usually is only one waiter running the hall.

I have eaten Mexican food throughout the US. I have always eaten at places run by authentic Mexican cooks. I look at cost, taste, presentation and portion size. Depending on where you are in the US usually guides the spice levels. If your near Mexico it’s hotter and if your in Maine it’s not as hot. At least that’s been my experience. Juan is a very nice guy with very little personality on the front end. However, you can tell he cares but suffers from language issues. The food here is authentic and the flavors are not to strong and not to weak. I have eaten here several times and always left not being hungry and happy. I’ve eaten all over the Capital district and had a little better here and there but paid way way more. For what this place charges and what you get here in little ole Johnstown, this is one heck of a place. I have included some pictures and just tell Juan, “some guy sent you” Give this place a try it’s really good. Update-we went for cinco de Mayo on May 5th 2022. We had a blast with some great beers and the restaurant filled up with people at every table. We ate dinner and it was really good as usual. We got to know the owner better and he is a really nice guy. His whole family has restaurants throughout the U.S. we will include some more pictures with this post. It’s July 25, 2022 and we just had diner. I had 3 chicken and 3 beef empeñadas and they melted in my mouth with a deep flavor of deliciousness. Additionally, I had a beef taco in the shell and soft. Both were very scrumptious. Lastly, I had one chili Rellenos. It was blacked and the cheese and spice were just right. I cut little pieces off and ate them on top of my empanada bites. I don’t eat here all the time but when I do I always leave happy and full. Nice to have something different in our area. Go! Go! Go! tell them “some guy sent you.”

Few choices of where to eat lunch on Saturday afternoon in historic Johnstown. La Palma turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Clean casual atmosphere. Friendly efficient service. Food is very good with large portions. While the chicken tacos were fresh and tasty, other choices made at our table looked and tasted even better.

Cute little brick building, very attentive and friendly staff. My kids loved the salsa and queso, everything was reasonably priced and the food we ordered was decent. Not our favorite but not the awful. However unfortunately after we ate I used the restroom and was horrified by the condition of the hallway, storage room, and bathroom. Boxes of filthy, greasy looking I don’t know what stacked up, on chairs, I am hoping it was garbage and not food. Filthy dirty smelly bathroom. My son wouldn’t use the means he said it smelled so bad and asked if we could stop at a gas station after . We had lots of leftovers but wont be eating them after what we saw.

Ordered Chile Relleno and a shredded steak taco with rice and beans for lunch. The Chile Relleno was stuffed with shredded cheese ( not hot or melted). None of the food had any flavor except the salsa that was served beforehand. The chips were dark and had a burnt flavor, not high quality chips. The rice had no flavor at all. Even the beef in the taco had no flavor. The waiter (male) was not very friendly. It was very cold inside, so cold I had to keep my winter coat on. So sad to have a so-called Mexican restaurant in this area and the food is subpar. Sad, sad, sad.

Food tasted ok, however I ordered 1 taco to go and it took over 20 minutes to get. They were not busy at all. Literally one family in there who had already eaten. The waitress was friendly, but the cook staff need to step it up.

I hate ordering tacos from a Mexican restaurant in a town limited with Mexican people. The restaurants cater to the locals and screw Mexican cuisine. That’s how I got lettuce and 2 types of melted cheese on my tacos. Ni me le pusieron limón a la mojarra, nada de limón. Me chingaron gacho. If I wanted lettuce and cheese on my tacos I would go to Taco Bell. I had to edit my review and add a few stars because the meat was good and the beans & rice were tasty.

Nice atmosphere and great food! Excellent selection of Mexican cuisine and the 2 for 1 Margarita specials between 4pm and 7pm is awesome. Definitely going back to dine in or take out.

The best thing about this place was the service. The young man who waited on me was attentive and polite. The food was disappointing– tasteless and insipid.

The beans seemed watered down, no flavor to the rice, the chicken taco was dry as sawdust. The enchilada had a sauce that tasted canned, and appeared to be a dry afterthought. My favorite dish, Chile Rellano — was reduced to a processed cheese stuffed — no love given in preparation (and this was the first version I had sampled that was not fried).

As many of the reviewers have said, the place was filthy. I’m surprised that this restaurant would pass a health inspection. I uncapped a bottle of hot sauce and immediately put the cap back on so that the black gunk adhering to the bottle top could not escape to wreck havoc on the world.
