I was on the fence after reading the review but decided to give this place a try. I got one the original and one spicy pork tamales. I see why some people don’t like it. I am not an expert in tamales but I have tried Mexican, El Salvador, Cuban, and other tamales; each has its own texture and flavor. The tamales here is more grainy, but the meat is juicy. I personally don’t like the dry meat even the tamales is moist. The tamales here has a soft mess shell pair with good amount of juicy meat inside. It is also very flavorful. The portion… Yeah, small …. But I can overlook that because it is tasty. I won’t say they are the best for me but I can see why it can be. So I think it really depends on what style you like, but overall, the texture of the meat and the flavor definitely are great. The spicy one is really spicy which I also love because some places, they said it’s spicy but they aren’t. Overall, I think the tamales are delicious and definitely worth a try.

We tried a few tamales, it was my first ever tamale and it was very good. They cost like 2.5$ which seems very reasonable and worth it. Y husband tried egg and brisket taco and said it was one of the best breakfast tacos ever

I ordered 1 tamal and 1/2 lb of barbacoa. The tamal was small and all masa… the masa had good taste. The barbacoa meat was burned it looked like it was reheated meat or just burned i threw it away. I will most likely never order again from this place.

The staff provides exceptional service and fosters a pleasant atmosphere. However, the tamales are unsatisfactory; while flavorful, they contain an excessive amount of masa relative to the meat filling, which is disproportionate to the $20 price point. The meat filling is comparable in quantity to that of a taquito. Consequently, I rate this item one star and recommend addressing this issue to enhance customer satisfaction. The chicken filling, in particular, requires improvement.

Google Maps Review for La Norteña Tamale Factory – Pecos, Texas
La Norteña Tamale Factory in Pecos, Texas is a true hidden gem and a must-visit if you’re anywhere near the area. We stopped in and picked up both freshly made tamales and frozen packs to take with us for later, and they were by far the best tamales we’ve ever had. The masa was tender and perfectly seasoned, and the fillings were rich and flavorful, like something straight from a cherished family recipe.
We also tried their bacon-wrapped jalapeño peppers stuffed with cream cheese, and they were absolutely incredible, crispy, creamy, spicy, and smoky all at once. A perfect side to the tamales and honestly worth the trip on their own.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through Pecos, make it a point to stop here. The food is authentic, generous, and unforgettable. Go here. Eat. You won’t regret it.

World’s best homemade tamales. This is not a full service restaurant. It is a Mexican food market.

I finally gave in to give this place a try. The burritos were good, no complaints there. I’ve tasted many tamales from different places, but I’m sorry to say, for the price you pay for them here, it’s not worth it. Everyone has there likes and dislikes, but when a tamale is all dough with a little meat, it’s not good. I bought the red and green. Red was definitely a no go. The green was better, if it had a bit more meat, it be way better. Dough and meat was bland, to reheat them it was tricky. Like I said, many people love this place, maybe they’re used to it. If someone was to ask me if it’s worth trying them out, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Stopped in Pecos for dinner. I got a half dozen of the new habanero tamales. Very tasty. Not terribly spicy, but had good flavor. I took them camping, and they tasted just as good the next day too. A great gem in the area.
