La Negra – Bucerías
This place absolutely lives up to the hype.
We went for dinner last night and ended up having one of those “why don’t we come here more often?” kind of nights.
Started with the Potato Wedges (dangerously snackable). For mains, I had the Crab Sandwich — something different and really tasty — and my wife ordered the Imperial Burger, which was an absolute unit. Thick, juicy, and super filling.
Dessert? Had to.
Irresistible Brownie for me, Classic Flan for her. Both awesome. No regrets.
But honestly, what makes La Negra special isn’t just the food — it’s the whole vibe.
The place is spread over two levels, nicely decorated, relaxed, and just feels cool without trying too hard. The staff are happy, attentive, and you never feel rushed.
And here’s something I really appreciated: the noise level is perfect.
There’s music playing and a good buzz from people talking, but you can actually have a conversation without yelling across the table. It’s not like some restaurants back in Canada where you feel like you’re eating dinner beside the guitar player for AC/DC. Huge bonus.
Also — they don’t rush you out. No “eat and go” pressure. We were there almost two hours, drinks ice cold, pacing perfect, just enjoying the night. It felt like a night out, not a speed run.
There’s usually a lineup (for good reason), so make a reservation online.
Great food, great atmosphere, great service. Worth every peso.
We’ll absolutely be back.

We had the clam cheddar soup, ,shrimp ️ jalapeños taco and the beef steak taco and a banana gelato dessert. Scrumptious is how I could best describe our meal.
We chose the location of this restaurant to eat at because we saw a lot of people gathered here to eat. I would recommend calling ahead for a reservation as we sat at the bar for dinner, which was fine.

We went to La Negra on two occasions. The first ‘without’ a reservation and had an excellent table upstairs. The second ‘with’ a reservation and in the streetcar.
Food first visit was amazing, loved the tacos – beef and mole duck. The pizza was a good choice too. The perfect cap to the meal was the dessert – a gelato with bananas, peanuts, chocolate and cream. This was easily a 4.5/5 meal which is why we went back again. Second time clam chowder served with a cheese crisp – flavour was ok, the soup was more like a cream of potato soup. Next up a fried cheese platter with mushrooms – bad decision – just a big goopy blob of cheese with a pile of overcooked mushrooms on top. Finally the pizza the best part to meal two.
Service – everything came so fast without any time in-between courses to sit and socialize. It would have been nice to have someone come by and ask how we were enjoying our food, would we like another drink (& to top off our water).
This restaurant does a great job of bringing in the patrons based on their unique atmosphere, for value, prices are normal compared to other restaurants in the area. We paid approx $1200 pesos each time for two people with one person drinking lemonade.

We have been to La Negra a few times and it is not only a culinary gem, but likely the best restaurant in Bucerias! Located at 11 Abasolo, 63732 Bucerias Nay, Mexico. My family enjoys the fabulous and delicious meals each and every time! They have a great selection of wines and the menu for meals (salads, seafood, steaks, pasta, pizza and more) has everything for adults and kids that does not disappoint!!!
Yes it is a little noisy but that’s what you get with a restaurant that is typically running at full occupancy, patrons enjoying their meals, attentive and fab servers, the vibe and background music. Bring a healthy appetite and don’t be shy about packing left overs. The owner and staff are super friendly, knowledgeable about the meals and will make reasonable adjustments to the dishes to suit your palate. Thanks for the wonderful food and experiences!

We had a meal at La Negra last year and my husband has dreamed of the crab sandwich ever since. Last night we returned with a party of 7 and the meal was EXCEPTIONAL. The staff are lovely and attentive, the owner was around and had some fun conversation with us. The cocktails are the best I’ve found in the area, especially the passionfruit mezcalita, made with real passionfruit. The flavors of the food were expertly designed. We will return a few more times during our stay, I’m sure. A must visit in Bucerias.

As a restaurant manager of 25 years I can honestly say La Negra is truly 5 Stars. Angelica and all the staff were so accommodating. This hidden gem in Bucerias transports you to a magical jungle getaway that makes you forget about the rest of the world. They hit on every service point – amazing cocktails and live music. Make a reservation or you will be waiting in line.
