Very cute place with super yummy ham and swiss croissants but super hard to find if you’re like me and just visiting. I’m from out of town and am staying at the Des Moines Downtown Marriott so I followed Google and walked here but know it’s NOT ON GROUND LEVEL. Google takes you to the front door of an office building with a person sitting at the front desk, she was nice enough to direct me to the elevator to the Skywalk level and go in the double black doors the back way. Keep walking around to the front where the pastry case is and order there. I think I’ll try just walking over from the Skywalk next time, might be easier.

Unfortunately, this place was quite underwhelming. The food tasted fine, I ordered the smoked salmon omelette – which is only egg whites with smoked salmon slices laid on top. There were no pastries available when I arrived, as well. It’s labeled as a French bakery and I was hoping to get baked goods. The latte I ordered was great temperature, not too hot or cold, but was off in taste. The espresso was drowned in the milk and flavor was lost versus being a balanced drink. More so a bummer than anything else.

I had one of their omelets and iced macchiato. Super overpriced, and the coffee wasn’t even strong.. The only good tasting thing was the macaroons. They were actually pretty good. It had a rich flavor to it.

Went to La Mie for breakfast. I got the smoked salmon omelette with a side of fruit and my partner got the turkey club. The smoked salmon omelette was so good and when paired with the toast it was delicious. According to my partner, the turkey club was also great.

This place is modern, clean, and sleek. It opened up in March of 2017. A much-needed addition to the Des Moines skywalk which took up a space that was vacant since 2010. The food was pretty good but just be aware this place is a little pricey. Definitely worth checking out during lunch!
