La Matcha Café is a women-owned business that was started by two great friends who worked together in the food industry. We both dreamed about starting up our own café someday. After years of hardwork and dedication, we finally opened up our dream café. We make a very good team and enjoy what we do. Stop by our cafe today! We serve handcrafted sandwiches, salads, coffee, matcha drinks, boba & housemade baked goods. We specialize in matcha baked goods and drinks made with Organic Ceremonial Uji Matcha. Our drinks are made with high quality teas & fruit, not powder. In addition, we will offer catering services for corporate meetings and parties in Burlingame, San Francisco, and other parts of the bay area.

Very welcoming and nice girls working there. They did me the best smoothie in my life: the ice was crushed into puree consistency, very smooth! Not many decaf options, unfortunately: only lemonade or smoothies.

I had breakfast nearby and was looking for a good dessert spot and found this.

I saw the picture of the Easter macarons and wanted to possibly get it. It’s definitely cute but a little pricey. I get it takes time to make it, but I didn’t really have anyone to give it to that can appreciate it.

This place was a little hard to find. It’s located in a medical building. The only way I knew where it was, there was a sign outside of the building.

The store itself is nice, I’m guessing they haven’t been there that long? Decor is nice. I just felt like it was a little cramped.

I came shortly after they opened. One of the ladies who took my order was super nice. I didn’t get her name, but my guess is she’s one of the owners. She was definitely helpful in helping me decide what to order.

I ordered:

1. Mango matcha latte – I was surprised that it had real mango bits in it. Once mixed together, you can taste the mango and matcha separately, but it was the perfect blend. It’s not super sweet, but you can still taste the mango with the matcha.

2. Mochi muffins flavors (in order that I like and highly recommend). These were still nice and warm when I purchased it.

#1. Strawberry matcha – Has bits of fresh strawberry. Perfect balance of tart and sweet. Consistency of the muffin was light and couldn’t get enough of it. It wasn’t

#2. Pandan- Lightly sweet but didn’t have a significant taste.

#3. Almond sesame – This was good. It just had a strong almond taste. I wasn’t really a fan.

3. Macarons (in order that I liked and highly recommend)

#1. Matcha Strawberry – my new favorite. Sad, I only got one. It was light and not overly sweet like you would get sick of it at most places. Just like the lady said.

#2. Strawberry – I typically go for chocolate first, but this strawberry was tasty. It wasn’t the artificial nesquik strawberry flavor, but it was way better if that makes sense.

#3. Chocolate – Creamy and not overly decadent or rich

#4. Oreo – to be honest, it was ok. Sometimes, I feel that oreo gets played out with so many things nowadays. I couldn’t taste it.

#5. Can’t recall flavor

#6. Almond- just like the mochi muffins, strong flavor just not for me.

I definitely want to come back and try the sandwiches and other dessert items.

Super surprised they had utz chips, I’ve only found them in the East coast.

Great gem of a cafe with both food and drink options. I stopped in needing to work (cafe has wifi) for a few hours and enjoyed the strawberry matcha latte. The staff are also really nice and helpful. The lobby of the building in which this cafe is located also has additional seating options and access to bathrooms.

A cute tiny cafe run by an all women crew. What truly sets this café apart is a genuine warmth and hospitality of its all female team. From the friendly smiles behind the counter to the personalized service at every table you can feel the love and dedication that goes into every aspect of this café.
The menu at the café is a celebration of simple pleasures, and wholesome flavors from macarons to Hearty sandwiches whether you’re craving a classic avocado toast or a boba drink, every bite is a delight to the senses.
The café is located in the medical building, walking distance from the Mills Peninsula hospital.

My family and I love La Matcha Cafe! It’s a cute little cafe on the lower level of a medical Building. Parking has never been an issue for us.

Some of our favorites are the baked goods- Macarons: hands down the best I’ve ever had- big, perfect chewy consistency and yummy flavors; Banana but bread: moist and flavorful- best eaten warmed up

We’ve also tried a few sandwiches before and they are delicious. My husband loves their strawberry matcha latte.

I’ve ordered desserts for parties and they are always a hit.

This is a small place a little out of the way; you have to go in the lobby of the life sciences building. We had Thai iced tea, a matcha latte, breakfast sandwich with egg & cheese, and a matcha strawberry muffin. Everything was delicious. The muffin was fresh out of the oven and very tasty, not too sweet, with fresh strawberry pieces. I highly recommend this cafe over the standard coffee shop for drinks and a bite to eat. Only downside is there’s limited seating.

Thank you to Vicky and her kind & talented team! The baked goods (matcha mochi strawberry muffins are my favorite, etc), Thai iced teas, and matcha drinks are so delicious and very fresh. I’ll have to try the macarons next. They look so good! The sandwiches are amazing too! They hand make everything daily from scratch, personalize your order, and go out of their way to make sure it is correct. They also donate countless meals (across the street) to Mills Peninsula essential workers and local seniors during these crazy quarantine times. ❤️ Please support this wonderful small business. If I could, I’d go everyday.

This is not a restaurant. It’s just a corner cafe with two ladies and they are very rude. The food is so so. You also need wait for more than 30 minutes to get just typical sandwiches because they need take care of their old friends. This is not a new customer friendly store. The high rate view here are definitely not accurate. Avoid this small messy and slow cafe for breakfast or brunch.

Response to the feedback of my review: you can see the owner ladies are trying so hard to find excuses for their bad services. They told us in the beginning we need waiting for 20 minutes and slowly increasing to 30 minutes. I saw many other people who came late and order after me get what they need before me. They are still trying to cover their bad services. The owner treats customers differently based on your skin colors. They are not welcome new customer. The place is messy and small. After more than 30 minutes waiting, the food is so so too. Avoid this place if you want find a delicious local breakfast or brunch cafe.
