I was just looking for a place to cool off here in Salem, OR just a few blocked from the Capital. It is situated in a strip mall, but convenient. One unexpected surprise was that there was a moratorium on parking fees. Anyway, the restaurant was nice, clean and inviting. It has the standard bright Mexican colors. The server seated me right away, brought chips and salsa and took my order right away. The salsa was tasty and spicy. The margaritas were were tiny, but good. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas, also great. Everything was reasonably priced. Not bad for the Pacific Northwest.

Wore my Immigrant tee to La Margarita Express, the perfect place to go when you want something good, “but not too fancy.” Fajitas were excellent, chased with a cold Pepsi. Service was spot-on…seems like everyone there is just downright experienced. It shows in a very good way. The decor is trying hard to make up for the fact the restaurant is located in a not-well-aging building. Attached photo of whimsical decos in front of old ceiling tiles kind of sums it up. No big deal, though. I’ll keep showing up!

Had dinner here and wow food was so amazing. Our favorite chips and salsa we’ve had at any hispanic place in town, chips were fresh and even still warm. The food was fresh, flavorful and delicious. Looking forward to coming back and trying something new!

Ube and all the servers are so kind and lovely. They care, and it shows. The salsa and margaritas are top notch and we’ve never ordered any entrees we did not enjoy. We go almost every Monday for lunch and the service and food quality is consistently great.

Visiting from Vegas and looked this place up based on rating. I ordered the pupusas plate that came with 1 tamal and chose black beans instead of the casamiento. What I liked the most was the cheese they used on the pupusas and the Yuca. I ordered a plate of yuca and came with some meat on top. Very good soft meat. I think the curtido can taste a little better and maybe have a little more carrot and some seasonings in it. It did look a little plain. I ordered the ensalada drink was so good not too sweet. My boyfriend ordered the fajitas and he said he really liked them as well. I’m definitely coming again next time I visit.

We enjoy this restaurant a lot, and get it to-go whenever possible. Always have had very friendly and kind staff members, and reasonably priced dishes.
Beware the fajitas only come with two small tortillas, so you may need to ask or pay for extra.

Food was VERY good. Chips and salsa were fresh. We try the pollo a la crema everywhere we go. This was the most flavorful we’ve had in a while. The molcajete was also very good and portioned well for 1 person. You can tell the entrees were most likely made to order. Unfortunately, timeliness of the food and attentiveness of the staff did not live up the ‘Express’ name. There was a large party inside when we arrived and several outside, so we will try again for comparison. The Mexican candy drink was very good but a little small.
