La Mar is one of the most established seafood restaurants in Lima, known for consistently well-executed Peruvian classics.

The menu focuses on ceviches, tiraditos, causas, and fried seafood, all prepared with attention to freshness and balance. The ceviche stands out for the quality of the fish and clean acidity, while fried dishes are light, crisp, and never oily. Sauces are well judged and complement the dishes without overpowering them. Portions are generous and presentation remains simple and precise.

The drinks menu works naturally with the food. A pisco-based cocktail pairs well with the ceviche, fresh and balanced, and not overly sweet.

The atmosphere is lively and informal, with a steady flow of guests throughout the day. Despite the volume, service is efficient and well organized, and staff handle busy moments smoothly.

Prices are consistent with the quality of ingredients and the overall experience.

A strong reference in Lima for high-quality Peruvian seafood, executed with consistency and confidence.

It is easy to understand why people line up even before opening and why this restaurant is linked with Latin America’s Best.

They used really fresh seafood. The food is outstanding, skillfully blending Peruvian cuisine with Italian and Japanese influences to create flavors that are intuitive, balanced, and universally appealing. Every dish feels approachable yet thoughtfully executed, making it hard not to enjoy.

The combination of Lima’s cool climate, the atmosphere of the space, and the genuine kindness of the service team came together to create a truly happy and memorable dining experience. The servers were warm and attentive, which made the meal even more enjoyable.

Considering the quality and overall experience, the prices are incredibly reasonable. It is absolutely a place worth experiencing, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Peru.

There are truly no words for the experience at La Mar Lima, yet I’ll try.

I’m a chef by trade, and after this meal, I honestly don’t want to go to another restaurant. Everything is executed flawlessly—from the presentation to the balance of flavors, and the service is simply impeccable.

I sat by the raw bar and asked Chef Jairo Jordan Príncipe Fausto to serve me whatever he chose. What followed was nothing short of extraordinary: tuna belly (toro), Peruvian oysters, scallops, and sea urchin—each bite pure precision, freshness, and respect for the product.

My server, Melany, was outstanding—attentive, knowledgeable, and effortlessly warm. I requested only South American white wines, and every recommendation was absolutely on point, perfectly complementing the food.

La Mar isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a masterclass in hospitality, technique, and soul. An unforgettable experience.

What an experience! La Mar is everything you hope for in a top Peruvian seafood restaurant…fresh, vibrant, and full of energy. The place was incredibly busy when we arrived, and we ended up waiting about an hour, but it was absolutely worth every minute.

We sat at the bar, which turned out to be the perfect choice. From there we could watch the team prepare dish after dish with amazing speed and precision, and we enjoyed some truly wonderful seafood. Everything tasted exceptionally fresh, with clean flavors that really highlight why Peruvian ceviche and seafood cuisine are so celebrated around the world.

Despite the crowd, the service was warm and efficient, and the atmosphere had that lively “Lima cevichería” vibe that makes the experience even more enjoyable.

If you’re in Lima and love seafood, La Mar is a must. Just be prepared to wait—but trust me, the food will reward your patience.

Flor was our server and she was incredible! With a menu as large as this it was a bit difficult to decide what I wanted when it all looked so good however Flor took us through the menu and explains every dish while providing recommendations of her own. When we arrived they sat us down in the waiting area for a very short bit and provided a complimentary snack for us as well. The drinks were sublime, the food was out of this world. 10/10 would definitely go again!!

The brainchild of Peruvian culinary godfather Gastón Acurio, La Mar brings the best from Peru’s Pacific waters to the table daily. The pioneering cevicheria, sat in the heart of Lima’s upmarket Miraflores neighbourhood, leans into Peru’s incredible diversity by including flavors from cultures such as Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, Italian, and Andean. As you’d expect, there’s a dazzling array of ceviches to choose from, but don’t shy away from the grilled octopus or their crispy Spider crab and prawn croquettes either. The breadth of the menu may seen overwhelming, but you can’t go wrong with the catch of the day or a suggestion from the friendly front of house. And for the full Lima experience, it must be matched with at least one pisco sour. Keep in mind portions are huge!

La Mar is a must to go in Lima, I’ve been here few times already and wanted to leave a review based on my most recent experience! This time i ordered classic plates: The ceviche was incredibly fresh and zesty, the Leche de Tigre with a perfect taste, and the lomo saltado tender and full of authentic flavor. Everything was delicious and generously portioned.
The atmosphere was lively, elevated by fabulous salsa music in the background—the track selection was amazing and really set the perfect vibe.
The only drawbacks were a long wait to be seated (more than a hour) and our server being very busy with many tables, which made service feel a bit rushed.
Despite that, the exceptional food and great music make La Mar absolutely worth it. I’ll be back—highly recommended!

If you are visiting Lima, Peru, I cannot recommend La Mar Cevichería enough. In fact, if you have more than one day in the city, I suggest going twice—there are simply too many amazing dishes to experience in a single sitting. The menu is extensive, and everything we tried was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor.

Be prepared for a wait—around 30 to 45 minutes at lunchtime and often longer during dinner since they don’t take reservations. Fortunately, the staff makes the wait pleasant. There is outdoor seating where you can relax, snack on toasted corn (“conchitas”), and enjoy a drink from the bar until your table is ready.

We went as a group of twelve, which gave us the chance to sample many different dishes. My favorites included the crab claws, priced individually at around $6 each. They are not your typical claws—more like delicate portions of sweet crab meat shaped into a ball, about half the size of a Twinkie. I also enjoyed a light avocado-based mixed salad and the Saltado with pescado y langostinos (fish and shrimp), which was absolutely delicious. My mother ordered the lomo saltado, another must-try classic.

The restaurant also offers impressive grilled seafood platters with shrimp, octopus, shellfish, and fish—perfect for sharing. If you enjoy your meal as much as we did, check out their cookbook, branded aprons, and other souvenirs. For dessert, the warm chocolate cake was rich, moist, and decadent—an ideal way to end a memorable meal. The ambiance is rustic, casual, and welcoming, with nautical touches that make it feel like a chic beachside spot. Lamar Cevichería is absolutely worth the visit.
