I give it 2 because the staff were sweet and had great customer service. The food was a let down though. As someone that’s lived in Dallas and always had access to amazing authentic tacos, I was looking forward to some authentic tacos on the beloved Cherokee but it just wasn’t that good. The tortilla was delicious and fresh. The sauces were not that great. The chicken was well cooked but not well seasoned — tasted more like the chicken made by the Chinese for fried rice. Good but not for the dish I wanted. The margaritas were a great size for the price but were MAD sweet. A hangover waiting to happen. My sister and her friend literally left a full glass after no more than 5 sips. It did taste like lots of sugar. And the water bottles served were $2, heads up. I expected my eyes to roll from deliciousness especially because there were other Mexicans eating but it was a sad let down. I got basic chick tacos, and had to ask for extra onions and cilantro to take it up more

Friendly and quick service. The tacos were above average but not the best I’ve had on Cherokee. The best part of the taco was the fresh tortilla. Went on a hot day and it was very warm and muggy inside so the inside vibe was off. Odd that the menu didn’t have prices or much detail at all. Spent $48 after tip for 7 tacos, two beers, and a very large margarita. I like spicy but their house salsa was pretty aggressively hot. The sauces they served on the side were tasty. Will probably come back on a cooler day and try something else on the menu.

The food and service was wonderful. I gave the food 4 stars because my mixed fajita the steak had a few chewy bites that were inedible at times. The flavors and portions were great. Definitely has that authentic taste, service, and atmosphere. Would go again.

Almost gave it a 4 star review as the Buritto was rather plain (served with French Fries which is very latin American). But, the selection of hot sauces (definitely delayed heat) made the difference. Friendly folks working the tables, and it looked like lots of other tables were eating the Mundo

The best restaurant on Cherokee Street! Also my new favorite Mexican place. I’ve tried several of their dishes and they’re all great. I especially like their soups, particularly the menudo.

Our server was a young man and was great. Very attentive (not enough to be too much) and the food was fast / tasty. Chicken fajitas were excellent – the chicken was different than other places, more of a chunk instead of a strip and it was great. The beans were good – the rice ok, the guac fresh and the standard salsa was phenomenal. The other two hot sauces were good too, but the normal one had a hint of heat and great flavor. I’ll definitely visit again! Side note – if you are going to bring a largish party you may want to call ahead. Seating is a bit limited and if you go at a busy time it could be a challenge.

Went there for Taco Tuesday and their special every Tuesday is tiny tortas. We gave it a try and they are amazing! They are similar to gorditas. I give them 5+1 stars because this Mexican restaurant is reclaiming Tuesdays for something other than tacos. Go give them a try.
Stay away from the gigantic margarita. That thing is dangerous! You either won’t finish it, or you won’t be *walking* out of there.
