I am beyond disappointed with our experience at La Madeleine at The Forum. What we encountered was not just poor service, it was unacceptable and embarrassing for a brand that presents itself as a French-inspired-bakery-café with an upscale, boutique image.
The restaurant was clearly and dangerously understaffed. The line to order moved at a crawl because the hostess was forced to juggle multiple roles. Once we finally placed our order, the wait for food was excessive, and when it arrived, the quality was inexcusable.
One member of our family, someone who never complains, immediately notified the waiter that his two scrambled eggs were cold. In a shocking and unprofessional response, the waiter put his finger into the eggs to confirm they were cold and then removed the plate. That moment alone demonstrated a complete lack of food-handling standards and training. It also left us questioning whether the food was properly remade or simply reheated and returned.
My daughter’s bacon was raw and completely inedible. The French toast was burned on the side that was intentionally not visible, which felt deceptive. My own French toast was served lukewarm, not hot. When customers order freshly prepared food, they reasonably expect it to be served at the proper temperature. This is a basic standard, not a luxury.
The operational failures did not stop there. The restaurant did not have spoons available, and when my daughter asked at the counter, she was told they were all in the dishwasher. The same excuse was given when we requested knives. The raw sugar container had only two packets left, and there was no staff member available to replenish it or assist us.
To make matters worse, the hallway leading to the restrooms had several trash cans lined up with towels underneath, actively catching water from a roof leak. This was alarming from both a cleanliness and safety standpoint and should never be visible to customers.
Overall, this experience was worse than dining at a budget breakfast chain. For La Madeleine to deliver a dining experience that falls below the standards of IHOP is frankly astonishing. Whether this location is cutting costs by refusing to staff properly, suffering from constant employee turnover, or experiencing severe management failure, the result is the same: customers are paying for a brand promise that is not being delivered.
People go out to eat expecting quality food, basic cleanliness, and competent service. This location failed on every level. Until serious operational and management issues are addressed, I would strongly caution others against dining here.

Love the food here. From the savory french crepes like what i had for breakfast to their madeleine , their salmon and their croissants . This place is always on point. Not only is the food always fresh it is always prompt and served with a smile and all very reasonably priced.

What a sad dining experience. I should have taken the fact that the restaurant was almost completely empty as a sign, but we stayed anyway. The service was meh. Our table and the drink station were dirty…crumbs and wetness. The bread was dry and old, but here’s where it takes a turn for the worse. About 1/3 of the way through a plate of French Toast, it was discovered that the toast was only cooked on one side. The underside was completely raw and wet. The “steamed” broccoli side for another dish was cool and hard…harder than most raw broccoli you’d dip in ranch. I brought it to the manager’s attention and she offered us a complimentary entree. Overall, it was just disappointing and not worth a 2nd visit.

I love la Madeleine! Normally go to a different location near work off 281 (absolutely great food and service everytime). At this location Agora only a few times because everytime we have we’ve been disappointed. Tonight my daughter and I both ordered online/app and I pick it up. It wasn’t to busy like I’ve seen before so didn’t have a long wait for our orders. Dropped my daughter off with her food and I got home ready to eat…the bacon on my sandwich is raw. My daughter called me about her order saying the chicken caesar salad sandwich (which I recommend to her ♀️) they didn’t put the dressing just the lettuce and chicken (small amount). I called the store, spoke to the nice ladies in the front (one being the manager) she said sorry about that you’ll receive a refund. I asked if she need me to send pictures or anything cause I really just wanted the meals to be corrected but apparently that wasn’t going to happen since she just said again she was sorry and we both would receive a refund. Which I guess is best since it wasn’t our first time being disappointed at this location. Thankful we did get refund but still disappointed in our food.

I just wanted to say that Yesterday around dinner time both me and my husband went in to La madeleine for dinner and it was truly so amazing. Reading some of the comments i was a little hesitant but still wanted to try it!! The two young ladies that were working there were super helpful when it come to explaining how the ordering and where we could sit worked and they were just super friendly. I didn’t catch their names but i wish i did. One of the girls had Dark red/brown hair and the other girl had brown hair with bits of highlights. Our food took a bit to come out but i could tell they were busy so no rush Haha! but other than that our food was super yummy. The manager Gloria was there being super helpful as well. She was cleaning tables and helping the girls when it got busy. I’m glad to see that this store has managers who truly do care. I would definitely recommend this place 10/10 experience

Had a great meal that brought back memories of Paris. There is plenty to choose from, and my meal arrived with a minimal wait. The stash was friendly and helpful. The mutiple trash cans catching water from the AC unit did take a bit away from the atmosphere.

This visit was unusual for this La Madeleine location. Glassware and trays were dirty even though “clean” ones were just washed and dropped off right in front of me. It took a long time to cook the potato Galette because I don’t like that they are already undercooked so I always have them cook it longer. They had forgotten and burned it and had to cook me another one, but that one was still undercooked in the middle. There was one person, Evan, who was cleaning tables and following orders, but he seemed like the only one that was really working. A lot of people were just standing around. I realize that this was the day before Thanksgiving, but there were not a lot of customers. There could have been a big rush before I arrived which was apparent because of all the tables with dirty dishes on top of them.
Management could have cut the crew down, but that didn’t seem the case.
Again, this was very unusual for this location. They usually do a great job. I almost left a two star review but thought they really deserved a three star because they usually do such a great job here. Hopefully this was just an unlucky event for me.

I used to live in Paris(France),and I miss good pastries,so I decided to go to La Madeleine yesterday. I really love the service, but I really didn’t feel French’s flavors in what I ate,it’s was okay but not French. But I recommend the place . I will keep looking for the true baguette in San Antonio

It’s nice. Enjoyed the French Dip, and the Almond Crescent. Went back a few days later for some Lemon Tart again, and the flavor wasn’t there as it was on the first trip. When we ordered our food, they forgot our salads. The staff seems a bit standoffish. A young man (maybe high school age) was very friendly and courteous…even though he forgot our salads. We’ll go back, but we most likely won’t order the Lemon Tart again.
