About two years ago, I wrote a review, giving La Madeleine 5 stats, but I’m sad to say that it no longer holds truth.
I used to love their fresh croissants and baked food in general. Lately, when I’d go in the afternoons, those baked goods would already be stale. I never tasted a chocolate brioche. The young man behind the counter, clueless as to what it means to be in the service industry, gave me the last chocolate brioche, which was stale and hard as a rock. I came to find that out once at home. It’s not like their pastries are inexpensive, $3.50 for one plain croissant, well worth it when fresh. Either the new employees don’t get the proper training or they just don’t care. Either way, I’m considering finding another café where to get my French baked goods fix on, sad to say.

Walking into this Cafe feels like you’re walking into an authentic french cafe from the smells, to the layout of the kitchen and seating areas. The staff was kind and the restaurant was clean even though they were busy. I ordered the shrimp pesto pasta and the tomato basil soup which came in a perfect portion size. I would note the layout is a little tight but still very maneuverable (for us claustrophobic folks) otherwise, i absolutely loved this place and we will definitely be back because I didn’t get any pastries!!

I had a delightful experience at La Madeleine in Duluth. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the food was delicious, with that comforting French touch. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure everything was just right. I’ll definitely be back for another cozy meal soon

This was my first time at La Madeleine and it was a large group. We had reserved the private room and each went through the line separately. The staff were super friendly and delivered each meal in a timely manner. My food was delicious and perfectly portioned. All of my friends also enjoyed their meals each acknowledging that everyone’s food looked delicious.
While it would be easy to go overboard adding multiple treats to my order, I chose the pick 3 special and payed less than $10 for an impeccable meal in a lovely setting.

Great food. We had the tomato soup and mushroom sauce with egg. It was creamy, sweat. I have no idea what French food should taste like but I enjoyed what I had.

I want to share my appreciation for Tyniesha. She was incredibly warm, caring, and attentive. I watched her work both checkout lines and the bakery with ease, handling multiple customers while still being kind and patient. Even with everything she was managing, she remembered my hot chocolate and made it large to make up for the wait. Her love, dedication, and genuine care truly stood out.

My go to whenever I come is the Country French Breakfast, which comes with eggs, bread, potatoes and bacon or sausage. Delicious and filling!

Food is so delicious! My favourite items on the menu are chicken friand, the pesto penne pasta, the strawberry salad.
The atmosphere is normally just quiet, not much going on. During cold days the fireplace is turned on and it makes the place look and feel so cozy, it’s so worth visiting the store during that time!
