We had such a lovely visit to the Kingstowne la Madeleine today. It’s a favorite spot of ours for a quick escape, but this particular visit really stood out as one of the best we’ve had in a long time.
The highlight of our meal was definitely the service. The manager, Enrik, went above and beyond to make us feel at home. He greeted us with a smile and made a point to stop by our table several times to ensure we had everything we needed. His hospitality was so sincere and professional—it really turned a simple lunch into a five-star experience.
It is so refreshing to go somewhere where the management clearly cares about the guest experience. Between the charming French vibes and the top-tier service, we left feeling completely taken care of.

I had a wonderful experience at the la Madeleine in Kingstowne Center! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was cozy and inviting, but what truly set this visit apart was the service.
A huge shout-out to the manager, Enrik, who made our meal feel truly special. He was incredibly welcoming from the start and went out of his way to check on us multiple times throughout our visit. It’s rare to see that level of genuine care and attention to detail; he made sure every part of our experience was perfect.
As always, the food was delicious—you can’t go wrong with their classic tomato basil soup and fresh croissants—but the hospitality we received today elevated the entire meal. The cafe was clean, the staff was efficient, and the overall energy was fantastic.
If you’re in the Alexandria area, this is definitely the spot to go. Thank you, Enrik, for making it such an excellent experience. We will be back soon!

I didn’t like this food at all. This is my first time eating here and maybe I just don’t like the taste of their signature chicken salad It tastes horrible. I also asked for the croissant to be toasted lightly toasted, and it was not. It was cold and hard. The best thing about my meal was the oatmeal raisin cookie, which was good. The lemonade was watered down didn’t taste like lemonade all the place didn’t look very clean. I’m disappointed in my first experience here.

Breakfast was simple and disappointing specially given the prices. Either it needs more portion s or apply more finesse like egg Benedict. Please do not use frozen sausage patties they are cheap. I will say that the bagels are great and their pastries were better but when I tasted them they felt old/stale. I wish they were fresher. Their service needs to step up. Tables need to be cleared/cleaned faster and someone to pay attention to the tables in a sections needs.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. I come here all the time because the food is great quality and delicious. The people working there are always kind and welcoming. And the atmosphere is so chill. I go there often to work on a writing project or to catch up with a good friend. I like to sit next to the warm fire place and eat a bowl of soup. I have been to the Old Town location and this one in Kingstowne. I have to say this one in Kingstowne is much better for a variety of reasons. So please support this location with your business. It is a great place to chill so I would hate to see it ever disappear.

La Madeleine is a great place for good, nutritious, healthy salads and good sandwiches. I especially enjoyed the onion soup. My favorite is the good coffee. They have wi-fi because the folks come there for free wi-fi. Excellent clean food.

I was very frustrated today. I had reserved the private room for a small baby shower 6 weeks ago. I had emailed the manager with questions. He responded and answered my questions. I emailed back saying I would like to reserve the room. No response. A week later, I emailed again… no response. A few days later I went in and spoke with the assistant manager. She told me everything was fine and she would email me back but the reservation was good to go. Never got an email. We show up today for the shower and no one had any idea that something was happening. We were told to just help ourselves to the room. The room was filthy. Old food all over the tables and chairs. Someone’s current lunch was on the table. No one came to check on the room or us. We had to go ask for the tables to be wiped down. Then there was a bunch of stuff stored in the room. We had to ask for that to be moved so we could fit in there. It was pretty disappointing.

Very satisfying, meal at a great price. The line seemed a bit long when we got there; but the groups ahead of us moved through quickly. I enjoyed a Croque Madame & tomato soup; I could have gone with a 1/2 sandwich and would have left satisfied.

Their food used to be good at this location. It definitely isn’t now. Whoever is cooking needs to have the salt shaker pried from their hands and thrown away. My food was TERRIBLE. The only saving grace was the pre-packaged soup and jelly I bought and ate after. Wouldn’t really recommend it unless you’re looking to raise your blood pressure through the roof.
