The La Luz Restaurant, located within The Westin La Paloma, offers an American Contemporary Menu set against a beautiful backdrop of the Santa Catalina Mountains. The menu was thoughtfully curated by Executive Chef Devin Pinto and pairs perfectly with handcrafted cocktails from Casa 71 Tequila Lounge.

We chose La Luz at The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa for their Valentine’s Day prix fixe dinner, priced at $150 per person, with an additional $50 per person for the wine pairing. Unfortunately, the evening fell far short of expectations.
Valet service was quick and efficient, and we were seated promptly, which gave us hope for a smooth experience. However, after being seated, we waited about 15 minutes before our server came to greet us. After placing our order, it took another 15 minutes to receive our drinks.
This was marketed as a wine pairing dinner, yet the wine arrived well before any food. It was 45 minutes before we even received bread, and nearly an hour before the first course was served. By that point, the experience had already become frustrating. We noticed several other couples who had been seated ahead of us were also still waiting for their meals.
Given the $200-per-person total, we expected a well-coordinated and attentive dining experience, especially for a special occasion like Valentine’s Day. Instead, the service felt disorganized and poorly managed.
Before leaving, we spoke with the hotel manager and were told we would receive an email that evening offering a complimentary dinner due to the issues. We have not received any follow-up communication. On our way out, a few employees mentioned that similar problems occurred during last year’s Valentine’s event, which was disappointing to hear.
Overall, it was a very underwhelming and frustrating experience, and unfortunately not one we would recommend for a special occasion.

Pulled up to valet at this “Luxury” resort on Christmas Day. Not particularly busy. My family goes inside. I need to walk up to the podium where a couple valet are hanging out. Guy at the door asks my wife “is that your car” w an aggressive tone. Finally start the process of getting the car parked. At the restaurant, another long wait to speak to hostess. Again, not very busy and seems like plenty of uninterested staff. They finally try to seat our party of four at a table set for three basically in the walkway/staircase. We tell them to seat us at a better table set for four, of which there were plenty. Service was fair, food was not memorable. The $17 whiskey, $6 glass of Pepsi, $15 parking and $50+ entrees should come with much better service

Ate here several times. Lunch is okay, breakfast was awful as in inedible. Service was mediocre at best. Go to the little coffee shop up by the gift shop for breakfast and sit out on the terrace. It’s much better. The service is great and you won’t spend an arm and a leg to have something you can’t possibly eat. Let’s face it, nobody wants to eat cold french toast.

Dominic was an excellent server! He took such good care of my family and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and enjoyed ourselves. The food was beautifully plated and delicious. I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family.

Terrible Mother’s day. I made reservations a week before Mother’s day. Restaurant called me to confirm reservation 2 days prior. My daughter and I arrived around 11:40. My reservation was noon. The 2 attendants greeting and seating guests said they have no more indoor seating, and we will have to eat outside. She said it didn’t matter if we had reservations and my daughter and I would have to sit outside in the almost 100° and eat. I was very upset. It was only 11:40 AM! Our reservations were for noon! No matter what we said, those girls refused us indoor seating! We had no choice but to get something to eat. Then, to go sit down we had to go all the way behind the buffet and thru the side doors, then 2 sets of steps out in the heat to get to the outside patio area all while carryingmy plate of food. It was so hot out there by that time of day. I felt embarrassed. I’m older, We were the only ones out there. I will never forget how La Luz treated us.

We have been recently to La Luz with my friends and we loved it.
We had a great food. I loved my pasta with perfectly seared scallops, accompanied with a very tasty lychee martini. Our server was so attentive. I highly recommend the place, the ambience and the great service. We will definitely be back.

My daughter and her boyfriend had a special valentines dinner planned at this restaurant. When the bill came they noticed a discrepancy on the price of the valentines couples package from what was printed on the menu, the menu stated the couples package was $109 per couple, the bill showed $109 per person. When the brought it up to the server she went and found a manger to handle the issue. The manager proceeded to tell them they knew the menu was misprinted and didn’t change it or bother to inform customers that this was in fact supposed to be $109 per person. After some deliberation they were able to get the price adjusted to the cost that was reflected on the menu. However this is bad business practice and very misleading, I would never patron this restaurant or refer anyone based on their experience.

The Westin La Paloma has an absolutely beautiful setting to create a fantastic brunch experience. Unfortunately, our experience was not positive. When we arrived at 11:15, there were only 3 or 4 tables occupied inside and none outside. It took some time for the waiter to come and greet us, although he was perfectly attentive going forward. Open table enticed us to reserve for brunch, promising a “vibrant spread” including “fresh salads, succulent seafood and a variety of breakfast favorites.” The buffet we experienced contained no salads of any kind, one seafood item (previously frozen shrimp), and very typical breakfast items including fruit, yogurt, pastries, bacon, sausage, home fries, pancakes, french toast, and cereal. There was also a skillet of very basic eggs benedict (with no hollandaise) and an omelet station. At best it was an average breakfast buffet with shrimp added. I’m not sure what I would have thought of the quality of the food when it was hot and fresh, but most of the hot items appeared to have been sitting under a heat lamp for some time before we scooped them up. The benedict and the scrambled eggs were on the dry side, and the french toast/pancakes were fairly cold. Although I should have gravitated to the fresh omlet station to avoid this, I think it is reasonable to expect that all of the food served will be kept hot and replaced when no longer fresh. The shrimp were about the same quality as I would expect from the grocery store, and there were really no other “lunch” items of any kind, unless you count a small meat/cheese board with crackers (where many of the edges of the cut cheese were dried out). On the whole, this was probably the worst scheduled brunch I’ve had in a while, albeit in a breathtakingly beautiful setting. I love the Westin hotel franchise and the setting of La Luz, so I really hope they up their game on brunch. We would really love to come back to this gorgeous environment and enjoy a satisfying meal.
