That was one of my favorite meals. I’ve had in a long time in Houston. In a sea of great restaurants, it’s hard to stand out. Star Rover did that by turning back the clock. From the big boy T-shirts on the servers to the simplification of the menu, they crushed it. Everything was perfect. From the decor, to the red and white check table, linens, and the music. It all set an amazing atmosphere. Prices were in line with everything else, but it wasn’t a barrage of options. Just good food and a casual environment. Layla was a fantastic server. Will be back often to make memories and relive them.
For the food: great twist on a shrimp cocktail, chopped steak was fantastic, and the sides were perfect.

I love a place that is good and you can get a reservation with no hassle. Per usual I like to order a little bit of everything bc why not? This place is known to have the best fried chicken in Houston. It was really good I do have to say! The biscuits and jam were unbelievable ! Brussel sprouts very much on point great tasting ! The charbroiled oysters were absolutely on point we ordered a second round. We also ordered deviled eggs which were topped with a fried shrimp very tasty! friend chicken and the red fish dish were out main courses both were delish! We had a good time , the restaurant is also appealing nice and dim. Good vibes good setting , great staff!

An amazing experience! We celebrated a birthday and tried almost everything on the menu and it was all spectacular! You can’t go wrong here. A nice little hidden gem. Highly recommend the deviled eggs, dumplings, fried chicken, shrimp tacos and burger! I just wish I took more pictures.

We ordered the deviled eggs to start and fries. Then the chicken with shrimp. It was really good and highly recommend our server was Chris and very attentive. Drinks are so good and don’t sleep on their soft serve!

Loved the mood of the restaurant, if you are looking for a moody and cozy vibe this is it. Food was really good. The only reason I gave it a four star is because I would have appreciated more options for dinner. Putting that aside food was delicious and drinks were perfectly balanced flavor to alcohol ratio. Our server was 10 out of 10.

I came in this past Sunday with my mom for a little Sunday brunch, and it was such a wonderful experience. We sat outside because the weather was amazing, and we had the pleasure of being served by Quinn, who was absolutely phenomenal. She was so attentive to our needs, fast, and genuinely warm every detail was anticipated before we even asked.
The food, as always, was incredible. La Lucha is one of my favorite restaurants for a reason the oysters are unbeatable, the biscuits are perfection, and the fried chicken and shrimp never disappoint. I’m already excited to come back and try the Branzino next time!

Decided to finally drive across town to try the highly recommended fried chicken! We went during happy hour hoping for favorable food and drink prices. Sadly that doesn’t really exist. No drink specials, and food specials are very limited! Definitely nothing off on the star menu item. Parking in the area was available at the time, but there are a million tow signs so you have to be careful. We just opted for the valet parking which is a tip only fee and not fixed. Very convenient. The restaurant is appealing from the outside and inside. Kind of a southwestern vibe. The servers are all dressed in white t shirts and jeans with a black apron. Nice simple touch. The bar area is a decent size but it confuses me as to why they have such a limited drink menu ( especially for the ladies). We ordered the fried chicken, collards, deviled eggs with a beer and the pomegranate margarita ( later sent back because it was more on the bitter side ). The food was excellent from top to bottom with the exception being that the collards are not cut down into bite size strips. They have good flavor though. The biscuits and the spreads that come with them are pretty good. Our service was little off but that was because our server may have been new. We would definitely return even though the drive is pretty far for us. The place started filling up at around 5:30pm so reservations are probably a good idea.

Came here for my fiancé and I’s 5 year anniversary and we were blown away. We started with two dozen oysters (Isle of Dauphine & Grand Batture) and they were incredible! Next we got a half order of fried chicken and an order of red fish on the half shell. We have gone to tons of restaurants in Houston & this was by far the best fried chicken and best fish we’ve ever had. Not to mention, the homemade biscuits melt in your mouth! To top it off, our server Jose was exceptional. I highly recommend La Lucha, you won’t be disappointed!

We truly enjoyed our time dining here! The service, the food, and the atmosphere was top notch! This was our first time coming here but it won’t be the last! We decided to get the 1/2 chicken with the biscuits and 1/2 lb shrimp and it was delicious!! I see why people raved about the chicken because it was served hot and fresh with lots of flavor! And the sauces that came with it was so good! And the strawberry jam? Amazing!!
Since we came for brunch, we wanted to keep things simple but I can’t wait to return so I can try the different items on the menu. Our waiter was so attentive, gave great recommendations, and suggested we dine again in the evening for a different vibe! 10/10 experience overall!
