La Imperial is East LA in edible form-warm, soulful, and unapologetically flavorful. The chilaquiles in red salsa are a must: saucy, tangy, and layered with handmade tortillas that soak up every drop of goodness. The elote tamale? Sweet, tender, and wrapped in nostalgia. Staff is friendly and bilingual, and the vibe is pure neighborhood pride. It gets warm inside, but the flavors are fire.

Saturday I stopped to get some albondigas or God I thought they were going to be so good to my surprise they were undercooked the rice it was not cook in the middle of the meatballs no good I took a bite it was cracking
Oh my Lord couldn’t believe it next following day I made a complaint first of all the waitress didn’t know how to handle me and nobody wanted to talk to me finally request for the owner and she said if i wanted to get more I could go
say no thank you
or if I wanted my money back that’s not the point The appointment is that I was hungry I was planning to eat I took the food home all the time wasted in gas I will never go eat there what the heck
They don’t know how to make a meatballs how difficult can you be to make meatballs for God sakes
They were not cheap either I pay $39 for two servings to go.

The menudo here, is the best I’ve had.
I recommend their menudo -only.
Our table server was forgetful, put in our order wrong, blamed it on the cook, and FAILED to correct it, -even after I asked her to…in fact, she never returned to my table–AT ALL!!
After waiting and waiting, i asked another attendant for my check, and assisted me with further needs.

The food here is GOOD. I’m not gonna lie, I really enjoy their food EVERY time I come here.
I’m giving one star rating because they are also SUPER UNORGANIZED and show CUSTOMER PREFERENCE. I was next in line to order food and I stepped up to start ordering the lady behind the customer started talking and helping the lady behind my with her family. On top of that they took my order and still helped about 3 other customers before they actually brought me my food to go. THEN, when I was getting ready to pay they started running my card and ALSO helped about 2 other customers pay for their orders while they just kept my card and I stood on the sidelines waiting for my card back and a receipt.
Once I think the headache is over I’m walking to my car and the food spilled inside the bag!
Hopefully this one star rating helps them notice they need to be more organized and treat each customer the same.

I’ve been coming here since I was a child. My favorite items to order are the tamales rajas, chicharrones en salsa verde, and the menudo. And during cuaresma (lent), I love the capirotada and shrimp patties. However, the service is not always up to par. Certain ladies who work there are too busy chismiando, rather than paying attention to the customers ordering. Unfortunately, because of this FACT, they have gotten my order wrong. The food is excellent, but the customer service requires improvement!

Wow, this place is a hidden gem in East LA. I come all the way from Beverly near The Grove (where I normally get my tacos). So you have to keep in mind that the drive from Beverly into East LA is not one for the faint of heart (I say this because everyone in LA knows driving is always horrible). Yet, this does not stop me from getting some of my favorite Mexican food in all of LA. When I tell you that I love tacos, is an understatement and this white girl knows her tacos, enchiladas, chimichangas and shrimp tacos!!! To top it all off the workers there are always so amazing and great when ordering, especially Martin (he has always made the best suggestions for anything I order off the menu). Also, I am learning more spanish and this allows me to use some of the spanish I have recently learned in college. This place is amazing and I have told everyone I know about this great spot. I hope this place just keeps getting better not just for myself but for everyone who goes here!!!!

Hands down the best menudo in town…. The most authentic home style menudo you’ll ever have . Not to mention fresh Hand made tortillas . My family and I have been going there for years . Great service and prices . Highly recommend ❤️
