The last time we were there it was 2 years ago and was called El Rio BBQ. The food is very tasty and the serving staff are amazing ! Next time I want to try their hamburgers. They look great ! I asked the manager if he could give me some bones for a dog we like in our building and he was super helpful and friendly. Watching the kids play in the river is very entertaining. Sometimes they come up to ask for $ for providing the show !

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best ribs I’ve had in Puerto Vallarta — and a fun Rider party to boot
Stopped in at La Huerta BBQ & Grill today for a special Saskatchewan Roughrider fan event and what a great find this place is.
I ordered just a quarter rack of ribs… and I was completely full. Seriously — I don’t know who can finish a half or full rack unless you’re absolutely starving. The portions are huge.
And the ribs?
Tender, messy, fall-off-the-bone, and loaded with flavour. Fantastic.
Comes with:
• Coleslaw
• Potato salad
• Extra BBQ sauce
• A big roll of paper towels (yes… finger food all the way )
Service was quick and friendly — drinks showed up fast (Corona + water), paper towels ready, and everything super relaxed.
Today they were hosting a Saskatchewan Roughrider event, so the place was full of green jerseys and great energy. Such a fun atmosphere — felt like a little piece of home in Mexico.
It’s a bit south of town and took us about an hour from Bucerías, but absolutely worth the drive. If you’re staying closer to Puerto Vallarta, it’s an easy trip.
If you love BBQ ribs, this place is a must-stop.
I’ll definitely be back.

We visited this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon
We were surprised at the beauty of the restaurant and its surroundings on the Cuale river.
There was live music playing from three till 6:30 in the afternoon, which made our stay entertaining and fun
We enjoyed the beef brisket nachos, and the pork belly appetizer. The food was top-notch
The bartender was generous with the drinks, and we truly enjoyed our lime margaritas
Our server, Jorge was both welcoming and attentive. Service was fantastic!
I cannot believe that I had never heard or been to this restaurant before on my many trips to Puerto Vallarta. We will definitely be back the next time we are here.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for a good time great food, and drinks in a beautiful setting with live music.

La Huerta BBQ & Grill is a unique spot in Puerto Vallarta that combines great BBQ with a lively atmosphere. The seating is in an open-air stage area with shade, which is perfect for enjoying the live music. One of the best parts is the serene river at the back where you can actually go for a swim. The staff members were friendly and the whole vibe is very high-energy. Since it isn’t in the main tourist area, I’d recommend taking an Uber or a taxi to get there. It’s definitely worth the trip for the food and the river setting.

Great spot! Delicious food and drinks. And live music! Sitting right on the edge of the river, with locals and kids jumping in the water, swinging off a rope providing lots of entertainment . And live music made for a perfect afternoon! We came for lunch and enjoyed the smoked meat platter. It was big enough for the four of us with some left over.

We were a group of 12 and had a blast. The staff is super friendly and efficient. We had Pablo as our waiter and Alejandro was his helper. Alejandro had lots of energy and was quite funny. He should be a waiter thanks to his outgoing personality.
The food was overall good, typical BBQ food. The red sangria was delicious despite having very little wine in them. . The prices were reasonable.
The place itself is clean and spacious.
We will definitely be back.

I’ve been many times over the years and have always loved it! However…..I suggest that La Huerta gets a new Host to greet people coming in! Someone welcoming, with a smile on their face! Not someone who looks at you like you are trying to get in without a reservation, just because he cannot find it himself on the list! Two weeks in a row this has happened. No apology! Just a grim look on his face! Needs to do better!!
