La Frontera is a Salt Lake City staple for Mexican food. Unfortunately coming from Colorado where influences of the New Mexico hatch green chilies and the tex-mex influences combine to make Mexican food filled with flavor.
La Frontera seems to have more of a west coast influence which is lacking spice and flavor. I find the food acceptable but bland. The tortillas were fresh made and delightful though, the price is right, and they are everywhere in the valley. If you don’t like spicy then this may be for you.
I had the chorizo breakfast burrito smothered with chilli Colorado. Traditionally a spicy flavor filled dish. It wasn’t spicy at all and flavors were mild at best.

I ordered chile Verde smothered burritos, order of three. The tortillas were not in-house made, and they were not heated thoroughly. They packed the inside of the tortillas with refried beans, no sauce inside. They poured maybe two scoops of chile Verde sauce over the top only, which contained maybe three or four pieces of pork. They forgot the onions that I requested along with cheese, but brought the onions out to me after mentioning it, which I put on top. I have ate this dish at other places such as Lorena’s Mexican Restaurant and they met my expectations. I myself was not impressed by the food at this particular location. This was on a weekend night as well, and there were no customers inside other than my wife, daughter and I. Maybe we were given left overs from day before hahahaha, not sure, but It didn’t meet our expectations.

Place was really clean. It was not really even that busy yet the waitress acted as if it was. She took forever to come to our table and get out drink order and even then got it wrong.
Once our order was taken it came out pretty quick and was delicious.
But when we asked for drinks they we always wrong.
Once I received the bill, my eyes almost popped out of my head. The waitress had charged us full meals when we ordered $5 enchilada meals. I have never paid so much in my life for the same amount or more food in my life.
When i told the waitress she immediately coped and attitude blaming my kids for the mistake saying “they should have checked it” The manager gave me a 5 dollar discount…big wow.
I will never be going back

Really clean inside. Nice place. Seems like the one lady is very stressed though and that’s uncomfortable. Wish the Uber Eats orders were ready more often.

Great service and food. We enjoyed the bean and Chili Verde smothered burrito, cheese enchiladas plate special and chili relleno. All really good but would have preferred the chili Verde sauce on the enchiladas. Would have given a 5 star rating if it was free refills on the chips & salsa. Don’t like that you only get one basket and will be charged $3 or $3.50 for new baskets of chips.

Don’t get the large combination plate it’s false advertisement, the picture shows the burrito as smothered but then they charge you extra for chile verde and cheese, the tostada and taco are just what looks like dog food no meat just a flop of beans with processed tortillashells I couldn’t even attempt to take a bite of it. There was literally 2 cubes of pork in this whole dish I guess if you’re vegetarian it’s a flavorless option.

We had to wait 30 minutes to get drinks and almost 2 hours for the food to come out. I got a burrito and it only had meat and cheese. The service was poor. Personal belongings from staff members were laying around. And a packet of sour cream for $1.50 if you’re going out of business just say something. Surprised the suckers were free.

Dined in here by myself while I waited for my son to finish something near by. Ordered a 6.50 Strawberry daiquiri. & cheese enchilada with rice, ate half my food and a few sips of my drink. Told the waiter I was going to the restroom and to not clear my table as I would be right back. Come out the bathroom and they cleared my table and left my ticket on the table. Very disappointed. Paid for a drink I didn’t even get to finish or finish my food. I won’t be coming back to this location as they lack the ability to understand, communicate or fix a problem that they created.

Every time we dine in or take out the staff is always friendly, food is always hot and tasty. We never have to ask for anything twice, they are on top of things and orders are always correct. We love thier smothered burritos more than anything but everything we have tried is wonderful.

The carnitas chimichanga was excellent and a lot of food. Everyone in our group liked what they ordered. They have space for family/group seating which is hard to find. The price was reasonable. I will definitely go back!
