We had the stinking rose which was a little bland for us but then they suggested cayenne peppers with it The starter salad was excellent I had it with lemon tarragon dressing on the side. The grilled veggies and the dips to go with it just fantastic!! They even made a complimentary toast to celebrate Father’s Day.
Note:
-The dress code is casual at least when we were there we saw a lot of them in shorts and quite informal attire. This was one of the reasons we avoided this place earlier.
-our son on the spectrum enjoyed the food and the place, they have plenty of tables so even though he is verbal autistic it was not disturbing anyone, so other parents don’t hesitate if this is one concern to take your special needs child there.
– They do not have GF bread which I wish they will add to their menu soon for those who have a dietary restriction.
Elana was our waitress and she was patient, friendly and just amazing making sure we had a great experience keeping in mind all the dietary restrictions we had mentioned.
Highly recommended for vegetarians(even those watching sugar levels) and for those who avoid such formal places because of a special needs requirements.
We arrived at 7:10 for our reservation, it initially started at 7 but parking was treacherous, not accounting that in this review (it is what it is). Right when our host was about to walk us down to our table, she actually dropped everything to show a guest who was joining another table to his seat. We then were brought to our seat where we waited almost 10 minutes for anybody to greet us. We chose the Le Freak course through groupon and had waited till 7:40 to even get a salad and water. The service was exceptionally slow and seems to be a lack of staffing but I’m guessing the atmosphere to others would be a distraction. Given we had places to be, that obviously did not turn out to be the case. I don’t mind waiting sometimes and don’t have as high expectations compared to my fiancé, but this was ridiculous to wait as long as we did.
We scarfed down the salads, long wait for entree, water was being filled everywhere else but us as well. When entree finally came we did everything we could to try and get out at a reasonable time. Dumped all the seafood on the grill, then red meat, then chicken. All in all while the food was great for my first time here, this was absolutely not a good experience. So now we’re going home, it’s almost 11:00pm and our night ending here which was not what we expected.
We pretty much always get the stinking rose cheese fondue. These come with a choice from among delicious salads, the chef’s salad or the spinach salad, but these aren’t simple solids they are creations in their own right.
Well sometimes, especially when I go with the kids, we just get the cheese fondue as well as the chocolate fondue, usually one of the dark chocolate choices. Both the cheese and the chocolate fondues come with a good assortment of dippers. I still love the bread dippers, especially the pretzel bites, but the broccoli, apple and pickle dippers are very enjoyable as well.
We go to town with the chocolate fondue dippers, there is a great selection and we each have our favorites. I love the pirouette and the cookie dough dippers most, as well as the apple slices. My kids love the marshmallow and shortcake dippers.
The ambience in this restaurant is really cool, they put a lot of effort into decorating the various sessions with a Gothic or modern atmosphere. Just enjoying the decor is one of the treats for me when going to this place.
The servers are all very interactive, involved literally helping us cook the food but also proactive and making sure our visit is as enjoyable as possible.
For anyone who likes an interesting cheese dish, or even all those rare meats they serve with the meat fondue, this place could not be recommended more.
Our waitress was so busy and had so many tables she was struggling, did a great job, and finally gave us her time at the end.
Expect to spend 2-3 hours.
Awesome setting, in this old church.
Too bad, for a very loud party, was just that very loud. A lady using her phone flashlight to see her food??? Seriously?
Other than that, I proposed to my beautiful partner, she said yes!
One of the great things about fondue is that it takes time to get through each course. Waiting for the cheese to melt or each morsel of meat to cook really creates time for digestion and conversation. Plan for a 2 hour experience if you are going to have 4 courses.
Excellent service and romantic atmosphere.
Also it’s too expensive.
