First visit to see if I would return and sadly I will not. We weren’t greeted on arrival and I had to ask if we could sit anywhere and was told we could. The place was clean and not crowded. The waitress was not very friendly and my food arrived cold and the tortilla was hard as if it was over fried, I didn’t eat it. My partner ordered tacos and said they had no flavor but had a lot of fillings. I don’t know if there were any sauce options because we weren’t offered any. The chips and salsa were good. The rice was sticky. Overall not a terrible experience, just not one I want to replicate.

I tried this place for the first time and I would not go back. The chips were stale. The red salsa was just crushed tomatoes that were flavorless. The green salsa tasted like tomatillos with hot sauce poured into it and it tasted chalky. The flautas were nasty. The beans tasted like burnt oil. Overall it was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. I left over half of my food on the plate and left.

La Fondita is a delightful experience that exceeds expectations. During my visit, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at La Fondita. It wasn’t just good; it was exceptionally tasty, making the dining experience truly enjoyable. What made it even better was the lack of crowds, allowing for a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, perfect for families and gatherings.

Joy With Friends added another layer of enjoyment to the evening. The atmosphere was on point, creating a lively and fun environment that enhanced the overall experience. The music and the talented singer provided a fantastic backdrop, adding to the vibrant ambiance of the place.

Overall, I highly recommend La Fondita and Joy With Friends for anyone looking for a great dining experience coupled with entertainment. Whether you’re with family or friends, this place offers delicious food, a welcoming atmosphere, and enjoyable entertainment that will leave you wanting to come back for more. It’s a perfect choice for a memorable evening out.

Overall it was delicious. We ordered beef fajitas that came with freshly made tortillas, beef tacoes, and some guac and chips. It was delicious. The food portions were generous (we couldn’t finish it and took a take home box) and the prices are great. Very clean, nice atmosphere, great music. The waitresses are kind if you are kind and want you to have a great meal. I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for some good authentic Mexican cuisine.

My friend and I recently came here for the first time to dine in.

First, the menu prices do not match the final bill. What you see on the menu is cheaper than what you will be charged. Also, an automatic 18% gratuity is added to the total after tax, even for a table of just two people. This was not mentioned by our server at any point and is only noticeable if you closely review the final receipt. On top of that, the receipt still prompts guests to add an additional tip up to 30%. My server gave me the receipt to add the tip and sign and walked away. I didn’t get my own copy. I had to take a photo of my receipt.

Our server offered us chips and guacamole without mentioning that it was an added charge. We were later charged over $10 for it. The chips were stale and the portion was small for two people. I was also charged $1.04 for asking for sour cream without being told it would cost extra. when we asked for water, we were brought bottled water instead of standard tap water, each bottle costing $2.07.

The tables were sticky, and one of the bathrooms was in very poor condition with a leaking toilet and broken handle.

When it came time to pay, we requested separate checks. Instead of itemizing properly, the server simply split the total bill in half, meaning my receipt included items I did not order. Both checks still had the automatic 18% gratuity added after tax.

We did not make a scene because we simply wanted to leave and enjoy the rest of our night. I later noticed multiple other reviews mentioning the same issues with menu prices not matching the bill.

The family and I had a delicious authentic Mexican dinner last night. We started with the guacamole and we agreed that it was the best we’ve had in a long time. We chose to add the spicy green salsa to it to add spice. My wife had the hibiscus tea and really liked it. She’s had their horchata during past visits and liked it, too. The kiddo ordered the chicken quesadilla sans the salad. It was stuffed with chicken and cheese. She said it was very filling. I ordered the small pozole. It lacked a litttle flavor for my liking, but with adding the lime, green hot salsa, lettuce, white onion and cilantro (which are the normal accompaniments with this dish) it was perfect. Full of meat and just enough hominy. My wife ordered the chicken fajitas for all of us to share. The flavor was on point. The tomatoes, onions and green peppers had the perfect amount of char. The chicken was well seasoned. The Mexican rice was perfect! Just like my mother in law’s and grandmother in law’s! My wife ordered a single pork taco. For us, it was not our favorite and a little dry. We should have gotten a carne asada taco. Finally, my wife ordered the caldo de res, beef soup, she loved it. She liked the broth. It was full of flavor from the oregano and bay leaves. As far as service, we had great service last night. There have been times that we went and the service was slow. This is one of those mama & papa’s ( mom & pops lol) located on Johnson Street in Hollywood. We love it here and feel it’s the closest to true Mexican food. In an effort to prevent any comments arguing about true Mexican food, my wife is 100% Mexican from Las Vegas via Los Angeles. We have done A LOT of taste testing here in South Florida.

Just a tip- they are putting an automatic 15-18% tip on the checks with their new system. Don’t add a tip on the POS system, rather leave cash if you want to boost it to 20%. Although I think it’s wrong, I’ll still go for the delicious food

Omg best Mexican food I’ve ever had in my life, The Sopes are amazing and made from scratch. Beware either come with an empty stomach or someone to share the dish with or you’re going to be leaving with leftovers!

The shrimp torta is amazing, the shrimp is very high quality.

The service was amazing, I came in at 15 minutes until closing and they were very kind, friendly and understanding and still willing to cook me fresh hot food. After I explained to them that I was staying in a Airbnb and had nowhere to sit down to eat, they were more than wanting to accommodate me and open a table back up for me so I could enjoy my food at the restaurant.

In a way it’s good that I’m down here as a tourist and don’t live here because if I lived close to this place I would probably go broke coming here all the time.

First time I tried tacos de lengua. Not my favorite but they were still good. Either way it was a lot of food and I couldn’t finish it. We had the cocktail shrimp and as an appetizer. Then for our main course I selected 3 tacos thinking they came small, surely was I mistaken. They were huge and I could not finish. I also ordered a sopa de Res, which was absolutely delicious ! Loved the decorations and classic music.

This Place Was Amazing! My first time was wonderful had chicken tacos with beans and rice. These were hands down the best chicken tacos I have ever had in my life! The atmosphere was like a local place it that is a treasure to find. The waitress was so great she was able to recommend something when I said I wanted something we was able to tell me better. She said she had been there for 10 years. That tells me that she is happy at here job and that her employers treat her well. I know the minute I ate the fresh salsa and chips I had made a good choice.
