Carne asada was well cooked with good flavor. The only problem with the food was it wasn’t very hot when it came out. Service was excellent. It was pretty quiet on. Sunday night in the winter.

Went in pretty early on a Tuesday evening and sat at the bar. All employees were very friendly and helpful and the few other customers were laid back enjoying themselves. Everything was very comfortable. Great help w my tequila choices and the food was incredible. I had the mole enchiladas. Subtle flavors, perfectly done. Somebody had a close relationship with their abuela. Prices very reasonable.

I had some chicken enchiladas. I personally wasn’t sure about this place, but I finally gave it a go. Honestly, I liked how it tasted. It tasted good to me. There was a lack of garnish and chili for me. But do like black beans. The guy staff was friendly and attentive. Overall, I liked it and would go again.

It was 4th July and the Santa Fe Plaza was buzzing with celebrating crowd. Most of the restaurants were mostly closed and the ones which were open were having long wait times (35 mins+)

La Fogata was open and had a waiting time of about 15 mins. We got seated pretty quick and the ambience was really good. This place has a bar as well. However, once ordered it took really very long for our food. We waited for almost 1 hour and had to follow up multiple times for our food. Once to e food was ready we found that one of our items were wrong, however they got that changed pretty quick. Despite being the busy day it was, this shouldn’t have taken this long.

The food was delicious, the portions were sufficient and the prices were reasonable. 5 star for the food quality. We ordered the following:
1. Mango Rita – $14
2. House Empanada – $16
3. Taco Plate – $18
4. Chicken Fajitas – $25
5. Santa Fe Enchiladas – $16

Note: They charge an extra 3.5% if you pay via card. No extra charge if paid by cash.

I’m a huge fan of chile en nogado and was really happy with this version. Service was excellent, attentive without being obsequious. The hibiscus tea can’t be made unsweetened, disappointing, but understandable. My husband’s asada was predicable, not my favorite dish, but the side of guacamole was exceptional. Per my request, I was gifted a taste of the mole, good, a little sweet, but I suspect I wouldn’t notice had I eaten from the menu instead of a sample with excellent, fresh chips. With a quart sized horchata, iced tea and flan to go, our bill was barely 70$ before tip. I’m always pleasantly surprised when I can get coffee and a roll with table service for 70$ in Santa Fe. I will return.

Service was absolutely horrible, born and raised in Santa Fe, but I guess you had to be a tourist or not color of skin in order to get service. They charged us a fee depending on the amount of bill, they charged a percentage fee just to use your credit or debit card, or otherwise you’d have to pay cash. Because the service was horrible and we got an unexpected charge I rounded up the bill. It was 111 and I rounded it up to 115 because they’re lucky they even got anything. Then later to find out they added a tip on their own without my consent. The total later on my debit statement came out to be 131. Never had this happen to me before I learned my lesson on not to leave tip section empty. Wouldn’t recommend out of all the places here in Santa Fe, I’d never come back, but always worth the risk of trying something new. Food is 2/10. Please save your money

The ability to profile someone’s financial situation based on outward appearance is downright discriminatory, harmful, and judgmental behavior on the staff’s end. Those who are not dressed appropriately will not be their number one priority at this restaurant! Service from the beginning was horrible. To start off, our server rushed us to get our orders in. Every now and then he’d come and check on his tables; he would then go beyond and above for the tables of those of light skin. (Considering it’s a New M
exico and Mexican cuisine, our group definitely felt discriminated.) Asking if they needed anything or if he could be of any service to them… (those of light skin). We did not receive any of that treatment or type of service; on the contrary, every time we asked for something when he’d walked by, he’d ignore us and continue as if he didn’t hear. Eventually, our food came; it looked delicious, but from the rice to the chicken fajitas, the food was very bland and under-seasoned, not to mention I had diarrhea for the following day or so. From the looks of it, there have been multiple reviews and complaints of symptoms of food poisoning and negligent staff, and unfortunately, I agree. We will never recommend this so-called “restaurant” to whomever visits downtown Santa Fe.

Great service, awesome food. Once you try the food, you’ll taste the quality and the effort to serve good food! Even just a plain dinner salad is amazing! I recommend the empanadas, the barbacoa, the sope platter in the appetizer menu is great too. They do push alcohol drinks, but you don’t need it because it will take away from the flavor in the food!
